OK. I guess we could use a proper thread for this!

Daily Sports Car has just reported about the hypercar prospects for 2022. The rumours about Peugeot not being ready for Le Mans seem unfounded. ByKolles car is set to hit track soon with both development drivers Tom Dilmann and Esteban Guerrieri offering some inside. The Alpine has a bigger fuel tank now. Dragonspeed prospects to enter a grandfathered BR1 seem unlikely.

In other news, water has been discovered to be wet.

I like how they tried to obscure the rear wing in the PR shot.  As if anybody ever believed that the original wingless concept was more than a publicity stunt.  Or if it wasn't and their engineers genuinely believed it would work like that, then I have little confidence that the rest of the car will be any good!

Jim Glickenhaus has already said he's doing the full season.

Excellent. As much as I love Japanese carmakers, I hope Jim and the Lions give challenge to Toyota Gazoo Racing.

Kolles are surely the weirdest team ever. They do no PR ever, build a car based on an 2013 LMP2 they asked another company to build them, have a number of conspicuously unfamiliar “sponsors” and always break down alsmost immediately.

If they were interested in racing, why wouldn’t they buy an LMH or even a LMDH once they are available. This thing stands no chance of getting decent bop and just looks like a excercise in spending someone else’s money (I couldn’t possibly speculate why that might be).

I guess they like to build their own car, be a constructor. I can totally understand that.

Can't tell you how happy that makes me She needs to work on her English skills, though. Right now, she's at the level Olivier Panis was in 1994.

It's just not fair. ByKolles is such a small outfit and they've done a huge investment by developing this car only to be snubbed. They could have easily have dropped an LMP2 car for their entry or added an entry more, it's ridiculous. This team actually developed their own Hypercar and got punished for it, a disgrace.

Although Sebring would be a better test of seeing what's going to break...

It'll need to be one of them if they want to do Le Mans due to BOP. I have a suspicion they'll make it to Spa. Sebring, not a chance.

I hope so. But I wouldn't be too surprised of Toyota GR dominates again.

Peugeot to miss Sebring, new image of the car on track (without rear wing) unveiled

The (first) entry list for the 1000 miles of Sebring has been published. Curiously, Alpine has only confirmed Negrao. At Glickenhaus, Pla is joined by Dumas and Briscoe. LMP2 is the most populated class with 15 entries, 3 of them in the Pro/Am subclass. Only G-Drive's third driver seems to be 'TBA' in that class. Many more TBA drivers in GTE-Am.

Any word on the re-engineered Toyota? I really hope they've managed to try and make that thing look a bit better atleast. It will look like an ugly duckling amongst the GTPs and the other hypercars.

Seeing as all the WEC talk has been condensed into the 2020 Regulation Thread and that it feels off to post the live Asian Le Mans Series race from Dubai into the GT thread, I thought why not make a main thread for all ACO - LMP Endurance goodness ? 

Please share your feedback and views on it. Cool, uncool ? 

Anyways, so the Asian Le Mans Series got underway this weekend and I just haphazardly stumbled upon the live second round from the awful Dubai Autodrom on Youtube, so I'll happily have it in the background on my flatscreen as I nap to get ready for work later.

Feel free to do with this as you wish for the next 4 hours or so:

AsLMS is utter madness this year: Four races, on two tracks, on consecutive weekends, in one country (the UAE)... 

(And I pity those who will be doing a) a 24-hour race in the USA, followed by b) a 9-hour race in South Africa and c), followed by the AsLMS madness (je pense à toi, Mikaël Grenier...), in the space of less than a month)

The Nielsen #4 was peerless with Rodrigo Sales, Matt Bell and Bon Hindley. 

AND Nielsen winning in LMP3 as well with the #8. Impressive / Ominous.

Shame for the #17 in GTs; so weird to see Vincent Abril in a AF Corse Ferrari lol. Cheers to the #55 Rinaldi Ferrari as well as the #7 McLaren and Cheers to y'all for a little Sunday race to get warmedup for the incoming Spring Racing. 

There is a 2022 WEC thread that I guess could be merged with this one.

As for the ALMS races, nice to see the Ginetta doing well in race 2 before retiring

Entry list for the ELMS just announced. 17 LMP2s, 12 LMP3s & 13 GTEs. Flörsch to race with Rusinov at G-Drive.

A brief snippet of it in this article. Visible changes include a taller rear fin and lower rear bodywork apparently. More info still to come about non easily visible modifications.

Flörsch is an interesting signing for G-Drive, she did pretty well with Algarve Pro at the end of last season's ELMS having seemingly used the Richard Mille Racing Team ELMS/WEC opportunity to good effect. Didn't seem to click with the GT3s over in the DTM. 

I think carving out a solid LMP2/prototype career in with the regular teams on merit would be something to celebrate.

Asian LMS last race of the season about to start

Great showing by the #4 in LMP2 and congrats to the #27 in LMP3 and #69 Mclaren in GTs for making into Le Mans.

If international financial sanctions are coming (i.e. Russian money), I imagine there are some questions that should be asked about G-Drive's presence in the FIA WEC?

Well, FIA is meeting tomorrow to decide what to do with Russian drivers, teams, venues, etc., so it's understandable they need to wait

G Drive is out.

 

G-Drive team principal Roman Rusinov has announced on Instagram he is refusing to accept the conditions laid down by the FIA for the participation of Russian competitors in international motorsport following the country’s invasion of Ukraine last month. Rusinov said in the short statement he would “not put my signature on this document” and expressed disappointment that members of the team “won’t compete for GDR”, adding “we are already looking at different projects to develop motorsports in our country”.

The move announced on Monday by race organiser and WEC promoter the Automobile Club de l’Ouest follows the announcement by Russian entrant G-Drive Racing that it is putting its sportscar programmes on hold for 2022. Entries for the 90th edition of Le Mans on 11/12 June have been re-opened on 7 March at 3pm CET for a 48-hour period.
