It was pretty sedan-heavy and only a bare handful of pre-1960 cars. But still, the weather cooperated, the company was good, as was some of the racing. Actually, a couple of races were very, very good. Specifically the 1960s sports / single seater race on Saturday and the ongoing Formula Vee battle between David Cutts and Mathew Pearce.

Jonathon Webb in his Dad's ex-Colin Bond Sierra - dominated the Group A / C races.

A very attractive example of a very attractive car. Spencer Rice's hard-driven Alfa.

Mal Oastler brought out the Mildren-Chev F5000, but suffered an oil leak which ended his weekend. The problems of racing something that's simultaneously brand-new and 50 years old.

Very pretty Elfin Streamliner.

Matich SR4.

Neil Schembri in a recreation of his old VS Commodore V8 Supercar.

David Towe's BMW M3 burned a piston on its first lap of qualifying. This is the last of the Frank Gardner-built cars.

DTM-spec M3 - I have an idea it was a Schnitzer car.

First time there's been two of these on track together since 1984. And just like in the 80s, both of them broke down at one time or another.

Privateer XJS. Garry Willmington was a brave, brave man - a complex car.

Meon Nehrybecki (here driving the factory Merc) is the son of Henry, who designed the Matich SR4 seen above. Following is the ex-Brock A9X, first of these to win a race at Sandown in 1977 and a Group 2 BMW 535, which is what Frank Gardner wanted to build for Australia instead of the heavier 6-series.

Justin McClintock's stupidly-fast Galloway Clubman. Harry Galloway was another clever bloke.

High-stepping XU-1 Torana, ex-Neville Bridges.

Steve Normoyle (here leading) only has one head, despite the photos's suggestion.

Prod sports head up the back straight. The dome is an indoor motocross venue. Looks like a really big moon sometimes.

Terry Lawlor chases down Ernst Luthi's Alpine. To put another lap on it.

Wayne Potts has been watching Terry Lawlor.

Very nice Mawer Formula Ford. Note the early 70s idea of minimising frontal area. This appears to have been the Paul Bernasconi car. Dave Mawer is another of those terribly clever blokes.

Here's that Formula Vee battle. David Cutts is ahead for now. They were this close in all four races. Great stuff.

The car tucked in behind, Bruce...

Is that the ex-John Bowe F2 Elfin?

SR4 or SR4b?

I think the latter. If so, is it Waggott-powered?

Yes, it looks like Mal Boyd in the 792.

That's Andrew Carrig's Mallock in between them.

It's so good to see the Franklen / Mildren / Palliser up and about.

SR4B indeed. Results show '1600cc' so I doubt it; most probably a Ford, I'd guess.
