Ah it seems to be article 12.2.1.f, for "causing moral injury or loss to the FIA". (Etc)

@ChrisMedlandF1

It relates to the drivers' meeting on Friday night, and so far all I've been told is Seb left it.

The timing explains why it's the first summons (6pm local time) before an investigation into Schumacher and Ricciardo for potential starting procedure infringements

Someone on Reddit suggested he was caught putting sauce on a schnitzel, which is equivalent of adding the milk in first with a cup of tea.

That's fair enough in my book.

Keith Collantine] The stewards are considering whether Sebastian Vettel’s behaviour at a drivers’ meeting yesterday “caused moral injury” to the FIA or its members. Christian Horner broke the same rule in Qatar last year by referring to a “rogue marshal”:

If it was said or done in a private meeting then this is just about hurt feelings of the FIA?

I guess he called out the inconsistency of stewarding/RD. Track limits enforcement was very poor yesterday.

"The Race understands that Friday’s driver briefing was the latest in a series of lengthy & animated discussions between the drivers and race direction. The relationship between drivers & officials has grown increasingly tense as this season has progressed."

"There is discontent among the drivers over the consistency of the officiating & a view that the shared race direction with Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas is not working effectively. Alonso & Vettel are said to have been particularly outspoken in the Friday meeting."

Hearing Sebastian Vettel is seemingly still with the stewards after being summoned regarding his "behaviour at the drivers' meeting". He was called in to meet at 1800 local time… so 35 minutes ago. #AustrianGP #F1

The running of race control and the F1 side of the FIA at large this year has reeked of middle management having their ego take a few punches, and trying to cement their weak position in a haphazard way.

FIA hands Vettel a suspended €25k fine - says he left the drivers' meeting without permission. "Drivers at this level are role models for every driver around the world and in the opinion of the Stewards Vettel failed to live up to that standard in this case." #F1 #AustrianGP

Suspended €25,000 fine for Vettel for his behaviour at the drivers' meeting.

Vettel "left the drivers’ meeting that was held at 19:30 on Friday 8 July, without permission, and expressing frustration at the meeting".

Vettel later met the race director and apologised #F1

The FIA is an organization that was being managed from the outside (EX: Ross Brawn suggesting what changes to make after Abu Dhabi). F1's way of doing things for itself without considering the impact on other series was something that needed to be addressed (Ex: Charlie Whiting's views on track limits violations).

Everybody looks at how things are done by the Big Guys (F1).

Drivers are not free to leave when they want, this being a breach of the requirement to attend. Drivers at this level are role models for every driver around the world and in the opinion of the Stewards Vettel failed to live up to that standard in this case.

Subsequently Vettel had a meeting with the Race Director, who informed the Stewards that Vettel apologized without reservation, and that further, they had a very constructive conversation covering the topics in the meeting and more. The Stewards determine that there is a breach, which cannot go without penalty, but that based on the report from the Race Director there are factors in mitigation.

Therefore, the Stewards order a fine of €25,000, which is suspended for the remainder of the 2022 season, subject to any breach of Article 20.1 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations or of Article 12.2.1 f) of the International Sporting Code.

I dont mind dictatorship as long as it is competent...F1 or any sport is meritocratic after all not an egilatarian democracy.
Chaos, inconsistency are enemies of the sports running..

Well, if somebody publicly calls somebody else's comptence into question, like an official's during a meeting involving all other competitors...

It would be the same in any professional sport.

I get it, but it all just seems to be deepening divisions between the drivers and the people trying to administer it all. Feels like they’re trying to shut up dissent rather than listen. I really hope it’s actually they’re doing both.

Only holds true if the rules are consistent from race-to-race - or even session-to-session.

That's exactly what I think. The FIA wll never say about itself 'Mr Vettel said Mr. Wittich lacked the experience required for the job' or 'Mr. Vettel said the discussion was a complete waste of time' or 'Mr. Vettel complained that Mr.Wittich was 'Not listening'' and  therefore chose to leave the meeting before its end.

I thought the job of the "Sporting Director" for each team was to ensure compliance (and exploitation) of the rules for their team?  If so, they've obviously not been doing their jobs well.

It was a team bonding meeting and Stroll was left without a partner so had to role play on his own. But someone from the FIA took his place and it was soul destroying.

Sounds more like a school master complaining of a pupil walking out of class, not like a multi million dollar organisation - just a piss poor management style instead of addressing the reasons why he walked out.

Indeed! But that would not cause injury to FiA nor was he alone in expressing frustration at that meeting...nor can they ever sanction that itself if he expressed objectionable/offensive thing they would say so and not characterise as expressing frustration (if anything its mitigating)
Its he left without permission thing they finned him.

Does all these stewards enforcement decisions sound more like trying to wrest control back from the drivers? You know like the famous Ferrari quote of drivers are two a penny we can get anyone to drive our fine machines type of thing?

FIA stewards must just spin a wheel of fortune to decide what gets punished and what doesn’t

Albon punished for something that was deemed as ok at the previous race
