Since the driver was okay, is it alright to laugh?

One of the strangest things I've ever seen.

For context: a KTM was significantly on fire, pulled up a marshals post, but despite the driver's best efforts, it ended up rolling away down the hill whilst still on fire with no driver aboard. Thankfully managed to come to a stop after hitting a barrier. 

A real WTF moment for sure.

I kept thinking I'd seen something similar happen once: Jacky Ickx's fire incident at Jarama in 1970 (forum member Disgrace's avatar). The 312B caught fire after the collision with Jackie Oliver's BRM and rolled down the track once the driver was out...

You don't see that every day: one marshal proposed to another marshal in the pit lane on and now they're engaged.

Each time I see a replay of that kelvin van der linde crash I'm not sure he's too blame as much as the commentary team think so.

The German commentators see it more as a racing incident.

Very close battle for the lead of the race now - almost touching 

I do not like GT3 cars at all but it is always one of the most amazing sights to watch onboard footage of them circling this racetrack in insane speeds while passing Seat Leons and whatever, particularly in dusk and darkness. And then they'll pass recovery vehicles like it's nothing too! I've watched hours of Porsche onboards for that, the whining sound of the car in the background. It's still a good race for that. One of the only, if not the only sportscar race I follow all year. Rhankfully no fog stoppage for this year... wreckage percentage's been pretty huge though

It's funny that someone with an avatar of a relatively recent sportscar prototype no longer watches sportscar racing. Did you watch through the end of the LMP1 era or did you give up earlier on?

The final Le Mans I watched was 2020 but I had effectively given up in 2019 already. 2018 season still seemed somewhat okayish at the beginning with the news of Sebring coming back to WEC and ACO seemingly embracing privateer LMP1s to at least some degree, but it was a false hope.

It is a shame but I'm happy enough now watching F1 + Indycar + once-a-year N24 and maybe Super GT race or two. I don't need the dirty politics of ACO to my life any longer. Lola in my picture is there to remind me of the good times though. Le Mans was my favorite race and ALMS my favorite series, but I can move on with life.

Back to this race though, the winning car's clear infraction being dismissed seems shady but it is what it is. I don't really pay attention to the results in the end. As AlexPrime says above, the clear star of this race is the circuit, the entries are secondary. That and the insane driving and traffic management and the weird little classes. Onboards through the forest are fun.

You know, Lola, WEC is fun this year, at least Spa and Sebring seemed a lot closer than previous seasons. ELMS is also a blast ^_^

Mmn, does sound like an honest mistake which led to no sporting advantage if I've read it right. Would have been better if there was no infraction at all but... 

Interesting that there's an air of uncertainty about Audi's endurance racing future, not just in that the LMDh has been axed but also that they are set to discontinue production of the R8 and, without a planned replacement model, potentially the associated customer racing program with it.

I only now noticed that there's apparently a new 12 Hours of Nurburgring (as part of NLS/VLN) race in September. Well, "12 Hours" as it is actually split into 6 Hour race on Saturday and 6 Hour race on Sunday with standings carrying through each other like in the old Creventics, but still...
