Looking through a 1971 Motor magazine I saw a piece describing Pete Lovely's new F1 car, a Lotus 69 with a Lotus 49 DFV rear end attached. I assume the DFV and 49 rear end came from the 49 he bought from Lotus and raced a bit in Europe. .

According to the caption on this Flickr page the 69 part came from an ex - Rindt 69 F2 car.

I imagine it was not technically F1 legal by 1971 but he seems to have used in in SCCA F5000..

It would make a very good Historic single seater as lots of parts available and the smal fuel capacity is no problem in Historic sprint races.

Has it survived at al in this form?

According to ORC the car (69.F2.5) was owned in 2020 by Peter Gleeson in Seattle:

Lovely's 49 was traced back to be Jim Clark's winner from Zandvoort 67, wasn't it? I'm pretty sure Michael Oliver of this parish had a hand in identifying it, or am I thinking of a different chassis?

According to oldracingcars.com Jim Clark´s Zandvoort winning Lotus 49 was chassis R2, later rebuilt to 49B/R11 which was driven by Pete Lovely.

Thanks guys, I suppose it it rather nice that it is in Seattle still. as that is near Pete's VW dealership.

The car is obviously a "bitsa" put some pedigree for the parts Jim Clark's Zandvoort 49 and Rindt's 69!

The 69 is with Peter Gleeson in Seattle (or was in 2020). I believe the 49 which used to be R11 is still with Chris MacAllister in Indianapolis, having been converted back to R2 spec.
