That's something I DON'T expect (nor want) to see. But I'd still like to see two Finns battle it out in the best cars.

You heard of a guy called Martin Schmitt, did
you see how he destroyed the opposition this year? (even in Lathi this weekend.) Well thats what Schuey is gonna do to the rest of the field this year ;)

It's pretty funny that for the past two years in ski-jumping also the top two have been a Finn and a German (although Ahonen hasn't been in quite the same form this season as the last one).
But at least in Lahti Ahonen got two gold medals as opposed to Schmitt's one. (one of them was from team competition, but it's a medal anyway).
And of course I'm a Finn.

RedB, "destroying the opposition" sounds like a stretch if it's applied to the big hill at Lahti... 0.7 points ahead of Ahonen...

I don't think Bernie would ever allow F1 to become a battle of the Finns. It would have limited appeal in many of F1's most popular markets. Look at the money Bernie routes to any team that will field a marketable British driver. Do you really think he wants two Mikas on the podium?

You're absolutely right, Mikas aren't even closely on the same level anymore like they were a decade ago before MH came into F1.
But it was still great to see the two Mikas back to back in Hockenheim last year, and I hope to see that again someday. (Unfortunately it's not very likely to happen
)

Todd, you've got a point there, but if it was all up to Bernie, don't you think it's strange that there even has been ONE finn in a top team recently?
Plus, I remember that Bernie tipped Salo for the 2000 WDC in a Honda-Honda a couple of years ago... This at least partly because Salo would be PR-friendly in Japan, as he has spent a lot of time there.

A very good point. We'll never have two Finns (or any other Scandinavians) fighting for the WDC all by themselves. It's almost certain we'll always have someone from much bigger market area in the battle for the WDC.

I know Ahonen isn't second in the WC standings, but I still think he's the second best after Schmitt. I consider this Widholzel guy to be just a lucky bastard this year (kind of like Irvine last season in F1).
But anyway, I think Häkkinen will put up a better fight than Ahonen did.

Czesc -there's nothing lucky about Ski-Jumping I can assure you, other then having the odd favourable wind blowing for you. Thats unlikely to happen consistently since Widhozel and Ahonen jump after each other in the 1st round jumps of every competition.

I don't think Widhoelzl has achieved what he has achieved purely by luck. He is a good jumper, end of story. If Ahonen has been around for half an eternity, it just might be because he is a great talent; I think he's just one year older than Schmitt after all.

Rubens will be very close to Michael in qualifying and on some occasions will be ahead of him on the grid. Rubens will be far more of a challenge then Eddie ever was, which in turn might be the kick-up-the-backside that Schuey needs.
I think Ahonen is older then 22 and Widhozel has been around awhile, only in the last 2 seasons he has come to the front. Yes Hanniwald overdid it, he looks a bit skinny to me
