Does anyone really think that Willams will do what they are saying "Sir Frank Williams has promised that his team will look after Jenson Button". as mentioned in the ITV F1 pages ?

So far, for the little chance I've had to review Button in the limelight, I've been rather impressed by him, and by Williams which, contrary to the team's history, do actually nurture Button and support him. The fact that he put in impressive times in Silverstone and the fact that he seems very calm in Melbourne (including his latest rebutal of his detractors which was rather mature) - all that lends to the belief that, yes, Williams will take care of Button and yes, Martin Brundle will have to, at some point, have to eat his words live on ITV.

I'm not much of a Button fan - since I don't follow lower formulaes I knew little of him until just recently. And when the shoot-out was staged between him and Junquiera I thought it all too silly and media-hyped.

However, since then I am been following Button with growing interest and admiration and if anything, comments like those of Salo and Brundle make me support him more. Right now I so very much wish he does well, if only so those two clowns will learn to shut up. Honestly, I have no idea why they felt compelled to run public with their anti-button diatribes.

What did he do so far that would render such a 'welcome'? Surely it couldn't be his age alone - I can't see much difference between a 20 year-old going into F1 (Button) and a 21 year-old going into F1 (Schumacher, for example). So what's the story here? Where is the hidden agenda?

Can someone shed any light on this?

Thanks,

Rainstorm

The early starters support Button, like schumacher and verstappen (didn't hear anything from other younger ones)
The folks that took longer to mature or get a good seat (or are scared he'll beat them *grin*) play him down, Salo, Brundle, Hakkinen and Villenueve...
