when was the first time the eau rouge was used in spa???
any early eau rouge pics available out there?

About 1939 I think, when the loop up the hairpin bend at the old ''customs post'' was cut out. (Some of that bit still visible on the ground).
Don't recall seeing any pictures of that area pre-war though.
Doubtless someone here knows for sure...

Eau Rouge is the left-hander over the bridge at the bottom of the hill, and was used from the first time the circuit was used. The change when they took out the "douane" loop was that you then went fast right up the hill after Eau Rouge instead of hard left.

Yes, you're quite right David. The spectacular wiggle up the hill after it is Radillon, isn't it?? It's just that the world and his dog thinks of the whole sequence as Eau Rouge or L'Eau Rouge. I assumed that's what F1master meant...
I should have known better in this company, and explained myself! Sorry...

Only a handful of years ago, the 'douane loop' or some close variant of it was still used as part of the main road. After our track days we parked on the coned-off bit of track to take crazy 'staged' pictures.

sorry i forgot
of course that's what i mean. i know that the part the whole world knows as 'eau rouge' is radillon + eau rouge.
i meant the whole section
