2003 Adam Fleetwood, Gould-Ford

But it is late and I've been up for seventeen hours.

Didn't Graeme Wight use a Richardson/Cosworth/GM (Opel) based V6 motor, derived from a DTM unit?

There are a couple of good books with info in - Chris Mason's history and the Formula 1 Register (Duncan Rabagliatti & Paul Sheldon). The latter has every championship run in it up to the mid 90's.

It's a long time since I attended a hill climb; I was once a regular at Harewood and loved every minute of it. Can anyone tell me what a Gould is? Surely nothing to do with 'orace Gould?

Good to see that Roy Lane is still at it, by the way.

The Mason book is wonderful reading, really does need an update for the last decade or so though....

"Gould" is the product of former champion constructor David Gould and his son. (Chris Cramer won the title with a Gould, didn't he.) Gould was, I believe a protege of AlanStaniforth.

Current Gould is, although I believe still based in part on Ralt carbon tub, effectively the state-of-the-art purpose built hillclimber.
I stumbled accross their website only yesterday whilst looking for something else... www.gould-racing.co.uk

Ian - if you haven't seen a hillclimb for a while, you may be amazed that at Shelsley Walsh last weekend, the outright hill record was broken four times... Adam Fleetwood, driving a Gould (with, I think, a CART-based Cosworth motor - not sure about that) left it at 24.08 seconds.

No problem.

And everyone else is absolutely right with their corrections, the last few names were off the top of my head. I'd been from Northumberland to Bridgend via Heathrow, and back, for work that day and thought: "I'll just pop onto TNF for five minutes before I go to bed." An hour or so later.....

That's what this place is like. Run now, while you still can.
