BMW GS Tuning - Gerhard Schneider

GS Tuning was one of the well known BMW tuning firm of the 70's, but there are not many facts known about this small tuning firm / aftermarket tuning shop.
May I ask some help about these answers, please ?
- When the GS Tuning company started ? I guess it was around 1969, or 1971.
- When the GS Tuning firm was closed ?
- Why is it closed ? The last GS tuned cars or race cars I have seen it periodic media is from 1980, but after that I haven't seen any new car.
- Hans Heyer was one of the favorite driver of Gerhard Schneider. Are there any reason why ?
- Gerhard Schneider also prepared one (or more ?) Lancia for the touring car races. Why did he prepared an Lancia, when he has a BMW tuner ?
- Have you got any personal stories about this tuning firm ?
- Is he still alive ? Do you know any contact to him ?
Thank you !

I'm also interested in old pics from the GS-cars (especially the GS 2002 driven by Dieter BAsche in 1972 and 1973).
I have to look for some old magazines in my cellar. Maybe I can also deliver some old pics.

And I found a test report about a street GS 2002 in an 1973 issue of Sport-Auto with some contemporary information about the GS company. Will scan and post it asap.

And in my opinion that's the deeper sense of this Nostalgia Froum.
I'll stop posting another possibly copyrighted stuff.
But I found this (for rFactor simulation) : http://www.virtualr....2-hdr-previews/

It's still WIP but I hope, we all can drive the GS 2002 in the near future.

AFAIK there's no connection between the Fischer Group (www.fischer.de) and Gustav Fischer who raced a BMW as a privateer in the Deutsche Rennsportmeisterschaft. Here's a picture of him and his self-built car (at least the text says so) in 1978:Originally posted by km1164

i have looked up some the DRM races are for 1978 as it seems he raced the car only 4/5 times this year and i list below the result/ position in Div 2 class & race number for my car
Later in 82 I am informed that Kenneth Leim of Sweden had the car at the silvertsone 6 hour race but DNQ DNA at 3 other races that years but seemed to qualify for Spa 1000 km race but i think event was abandoned
Later the car goes to Scandanavia to race as do 2 or 3 other BMW 320i Gp 5 cars
Today the car is metallic white & has the name on it now of John K Westman but i have not yet googled him but on 10-10 forum i have had a guy with swedish / norwegian saloon car & GT website list some info but no photos yet
I list below events dates results car number and wonder if anyone has more info from euro race magazines any photos

It is clear that GS tuning made at least two GS 3.0 CSL:
- one white / black 'press' car: http://s250.photobuc...annt-1Kopie.jpg
- and another one, which was a yellow / black one, like all gs 2002 'press' cars. There is a black and white photo about that car in the 1973 BMW GS brochure.
It might happen that the targa florio car is the actually the yellow/black GS 3.0 CSL car made in 1973 at GS.
