Whatever happened to this rapid driver? I seem to recall reading many years ago in the Liverpool Echo that he had done a Whitmore, so as to speak, and was running a holistic clinic of some sort on Merseyside!!!

But as Michael Schryver pointed out to me as he photographed them, the front corners are not quite standard and require different rims to accommodate
what is essentially a B16 set-up. A scrutineer could not be expected to spot this, but is that permissable?

The car of Ross's and most B8's have the Triumph uprights as pictured,my fathers car built in 1969 and one of the last built has the B16 magnesium style upright homologated in 1969,for these uprights to work as intended you need wheels with a different offset .The problem is that the B8 wheels available at the moment are designed for the Triumph upright hence the front track of our car is about one inch too narrow.

Racing Fabs originally did it and they are one of the best and their apprentice now keeps it going.
As an aside B8's were upgraded in period to run B16 stuff, a fact that led us to have deep and meaniful discussions with certain people when I first had a B8 but ours is now same as rest.

Giraffe it was me James Schryver who you met at Silverstone, there is nothing wrong at all with the front of Ross Maxwell's B8.The reason i was taking photos of B8 front suspension is i am rebuilding the front suspension of my fathers B8 and i was comparing different cars.

Firstly James, I must apologise for getting my Schryvers mixed up! IIRC there are three of you & I got confused! I should have known better! Also I should have listened a little more closely to what you said!
Am I to understand that the spec on B8 - 37 is early 'standard' so as to speak, a spec that you may well have to return your father's later car to due to the lack of availability of suitable wheels? It certainly seems to run well enough on the incorrect wheels! Secondly, in theory could all B8's run with the later B16 magnesium style upright if they so chose even if the suitable wheels are as yet unavailable to maximise the set-up?
IN spite of my blunder, it's nice to discover that you are active on TNF James, and I look forward to cheering you on in seemingly a variety of machinery this season!
