Last years CSCC Special Saloon/Modsports races saw only two cars, Andy Southcott's very quick over sized MG Midget and Paul Sibley's equally quick Lotus Elan ( BDX powered ? ) beat the 51 second mark. September's HSCC meeting saw the fastest lap in the Classic ( Pre '85 ) Formula Three races dip just below 49 seconds.
It would be interesting to know who was driving when the Turner set that lap of 46.38 seconds.

Ah yes, 'Lord' Greville of Addlestone, my local all round con-man and thug. The Turner was used as part of his Help4Heroes con. I wouldn't believe any claim made about that car. If I was told it had four wheels, I would insist on counting them.

This car is the subject of a multi page article in the May Classic Cars magazine, written by a chap called Sam Dawson who is their News Editor, and seems to perpetuate its claims to links or origins via DP155, if I have read it correctly, although it now seems to claim some lineage from an HWM chassis, so one assumes Simon Taylor has included in his award winning book on that marque.
Current valuation is "in excess of £350,000" which may seem a lot for what some might consider a tidily built bitsa.
Usual disclaimers.

Am I correct this is the same article, cannot make any sense of what is either being said or implied :- https://drive-my.com...m-aston-martin/

A couple of TNFers have suggested I comment on this thread - apologies for taking so long to do so! Here are my thoughts, for what they may or may not be worth:
Number one: this car is not an HWM, and has nothing to do with any HWM as far as I am aware. There were mutters about it having some HWM ancestry when it came up at the Goodwood Bonhams auction, and various HWM people looked at it and recognised no part of the chassis.
The Intelweb Algorythms must be working over time just found this link to the Bonhams Lot Simon appears to mention above, the car seems to have been tidied up a bit since then :- https://www.bonhams..../14259/lot/536/

Article on DP155’s 1956 NZ Tour with Reg Parnell.
Lots of Gaze and Whitehead and a dose of early post war NZ Racing History

Having been a bit captivated by Aston Martin DP155, a friend pointed out that the 'lineal descendant' of that car, an 'Aston Martin DB3S Special' chassis 131/DB135 is shortly to be offered for sale. I wonder if it will be converted back into DP155 when Astons win their first GP shortly...

Yep Steve,
Them 'furriners tend to use Tasman Series as a catch-all for the Antipodean Summer Internationals regardless of year, as you know The Tasman Cup was run and won from 1964-75. This topic was ventilated in this manor long before my time. In my meanderings I tend to use 'Australian Internationals' and 'New Zealand Internationals' as the descriptor.
The Kiwis were quicker out of the international blocks than us, bagging the Owen Racing Organisation (and others) in 1954, Ken Wharton shattered the peace and tranquility at Ardmore and Wigram with the BRM P15 that summer.
In 1955 the Kiwis again had a stellar entry including the Peter Whitehead and Tony Gaze 3-litre Ferrari 500/625s and Prince Bira Maserati 250F/OSCA. That trio also ran at Gnoo Blas, so I think that is the first time internationals raced in NZ/Oz back-to back?
Whether that Gnoo Blas club negotiated together with the Kiwis to bring them out I doubt, it would be interesting to know when exactly the NZ and Oz promoters/CAMS/MANZ negotiated together to attract European racers. It certainly happened during the Tasman Series but surely started before then??
See sample communique from Ron Frost to his Australian brothers dated July 1967.
