This past Sunday i attended Le Vie en Bleu at Prescott. A wonderful day apart from the rain! Along with the 5 Bugatti Veyron's, Scores of Vintage Bugatties and all manner of other french vehicles, there was John Bolster's Bloody Mary.
I had a chat with the person that had returned the car to running condition and he told me that the vehicle had been in the Beaulieu Motor Museum for some years and hadn't run properly for about 40 years. He also mentioned that a journalist had taken the vehicle for some kind of "test run" some years ago and had, broken one of the Jap Engines and also the gearbox, returned the car and walked away leaving the vehicle in a very bad state. The car required alot of work to return it to a running condition before appearing at Prescott.
I was wondering if anyone could throw any more light on this. It is not my intention to "point the finger" in any way, i'm just interested to know why anybody would do this to such an important car. If, infact, this is what actually happened.
I also spoke briefly to Rosemary Bolster who recounted a lovely story about her late husbands recovery in hospital after his accident in the British Grand Prix. It was indeed an honour to meet her.
PS What happened to the 4 engined Bolster special that was built using the 2 engines borrowed from Bloody Mary.

I don't know about that, but somewhere at home I have a Brownie picture, that my father took, of Bolster in the paddock at Prescott in '63, his last competitive event in Mary.
So I'm glad to read your post - it brings back a good memory.
