This is my first comment in this thread specifically related to this number plate story.

The first thought that came to my mind was why would LH or any other person with comment sense pay that sort of money for such a name when they could think up a much better name for the minimum purchase cost of the plate.

As it turned out this story was complete BS which doesn't surprise me.

As I posted above, in Feb this year someone on a forum claimed they had been offered LEW1S for 12,000 quid. And he was flabergasted at how expensive it was.

I just read the PC.. I can't actually believe they ask this question ...

Q: I have been asked to ask you a question about a number plate. Have you bought 'LEW15'?

LH: No. Absolutely no interest. That sounds about the worst number plate I've ever heard of. I'm not stupid enough to spend a couple of hundred grand on a bloody number plate. I wouldn't spend a hundred pounds on a number plate. A number plate's a number plate. It doesn't mean nothing to me. I just heard about it today. It was the first I'd heard about it.

Did someone from here had anything to do with this???

All this leaves us, discussing how UN-cool Kimi and his bike and tatoo is....

I'd've thought that was AMAZING value. K1 NGS went for a quarter of a million. There's lots of people called Lewis (first name or surname) but only one LEW 1S.

so that all worked out in the end then.

the story rubbished, the protagonist vindicated, some iceman tattoos and custom bikes inadvertently outed (that probably wasn't in the script for this particular thread eh?), and the over-eager taught a valuable object lesson about sources and cautious verification

Quite the opposite of Mosley's sick nazi sex fetish with the five hookers in News of the World.
That story was shitbagged for days here as being a fabrication then turned out to be true.
LEW1S was taken as gospel here then turned out to be garbage.

Gordon Smiley (Indycar driver) had FLASH G as his number plate. And there have been lots of famous personalized ones in the past in motor racing - DAD 10, CUT 7, OKV 3...just with a bit more imagination (do I remember FU 2?). Rosemeyer had something like 227227 as a vanity.

Let's not forget the most famous of vanity plates

K1 NGS, would that be Jack King selling by any chance? I am sure he had that number plate when I was a nipper, (I lived next to his camp where he had his mansion up till I was 10 and my parents saved me from the shithole that is Canvey), and he could make money out of a rock.

Didn't do his Son any good though. Head on collision after taking his 911 a bit too far sent him to the other side.

This story does tell us one thing.

Lewis' management is doing an awful job of protecting him from rubbish like this. The fact that they let this ridiculous thing build for days shows that his manager is Not earning his 15% cut.

Lewis should Never be forced to even address rubbish like this. The hour after it was first reported, his management should have shut the story down. First by asking the publication to retract the story. If the story still managed to spread, they should have sent official denials to all concerned. McLaren, to their credit, did release a denial for him, but I've not seen a single report of a press release from Hamilton's management company. They seem completely asleep at the switch.

Is his father still his manager? Family members make the WORST personal managers. They're not held nearly as accountable as a hired management company would be and they can't easily be sacked when they screw up. I think Danica Patrick is also managed by a family member, I don't know of any worse management of a racing driver than hers.

Did you not see that the entire report is a fabrication? It just didn't happen.

It was the first DVLA auction AFAIR. Caused a bit of a surprise, but that's what happens in a bidding war. The only one that has fetched more at the DVLA is 51 NGH.

Well, I am sure I remember K1 NGS as his number plate. Basically, he owned Kings holiday park and used to spend the summer in his UK mansion and the winter in his Australian mansion, (didn't like particuarly cold weather).

Seriously corrupt dude. He used to push his fences several metres further every year, thus claiming public land. It didn't matter because he was best mates with all of the council members.

Still, he was someone I looked up to as a child. I have always believed greed is good, (wall street was my favourite film when I was about 10). I remember seeing his kids in their 911's and Ferrari's and him in his Limo, and my dad telling me how corrupt he was and thinking, "I want to be that corrupt when I grow up". :)

I sure feel better now knowing that the increases I've been subjected to for my fuel are going to fund such well worth causes.

Funny but I don't remember Lewis going around strip joints in London pulling his cock out for a wank like Dimi did.

Raikkonen is born to be able to do memorable moments. Just like Lewis. It is just what one wants to memorize.
