With the standard ECU, what about Honda's motor (mechanically) makes it sound like a Mk.II Escort with a busted header? Anyone with some tech insight?

I noticed the same thing in Melbourne.
They we're both ear-splittingly loud.

The Aguris too.
There is a thread in the TF about this very subject.

Its probably a deliberate misfire under deceleration and acceleration like you said it can be designed into the engine mapping or electronics somehow perhaps regardless of the ECU.Originally posted by pacwest
On decel/brake, coast and even 1st/2nd acceleration this car just sounds positively rank. Like someone is pressing a pit lane speed button or overly aggressive TC. I know it's not that.
