Do you think "Formula 1: Portraits of the '60s" is worthwhile?
Is this book any good?

To me, absolutely. It is one of my favorite books to browse through, and does a pretty fair job capturing my favorite era. The text is brief, but good. I also like the space given to some of the lesser lights of Grand Prix racing, men who maybe never won the title or many races, but who deserve to be remembered none the less. I got it for less than $40 (US) and consider it a bargain.

I Ditto Fasty's Remarks: at $40US it is a good deal, especially for the "Lesser Lights" who really added to the show.

Good god, man!!!
It's only the bargain of the century.
This was Rainer's pre "FlashBlurr" period.
Almost every shot is a classic.
This one left me hungry for more.
Only Jesse Alexander comes close to this collection.
Enough Raves??

Classic photographs from cover to cover I almost cried when I saw all of my heros in one book the ones that are no longer here to thrill us. Need we say more. Go young man to the store and buy this book.

Yes Yes Yes Yes ......
Beautiful evocative black and white shots. Its not just about the cars and drivers. The tracks, the spectators and general atmosphere of motor racing in the '60's are beautifully captured. It's like a frozen version of the movie "Grand Prix"

Ok then. I saw it on the bookstore shelf and it looked good...unfortunately it was quite damaged. Next time I find a good copy I'll buy.

I personally have yet to be disappointed by any Rainer Schlegelmilch book....except that it eventually ends.

I bought this book for about $40NZ, and while I don't look at it very often, it's always nice to get it out now and then to browse. I also have another book with photos by Rainer Schlegelmilch called Grand Prix: Fascination Formula 1; this is a really good book with heaps of photos from GPs 1967 - 1993. It covers cars, drivers, engines, team bosses, and if you ever see it, it's worthwhile getting. I just brought another book by the same guy called McLaren Formula 1, and is a photo chronicle of the team since it's inception. That is good as well, but unfortunately there is'nt as many photo's as in previous books.
Had to correct the spelling mistakes...they really bother me!!
