There are many web links here at TNF with most appearing in signatures, including mine. I admire anyone who takes the time to develop an information based web site...........especially for motorsports.

Am sure some good additional information will come forward from TNF members concerning Boulder Speedway.

Is this the speedway?

Henry,
The aerial shot is of the Eastern Goldfields Trotting Ground. [Harness, pacing etc. Depends on your part of the world.]

The trotting ground featured motorbike racing at the annual Fair. They were in the main motocross bikes with the odd classic dirt tracker mixed in.
For us young kids starved of proper speedway racing this was the next best.

A short distance to the right of the track is the 'Super Pit' a gold mining operation believed to be the largest in the world.

PS. Hello Mike.

I spent 5 years in Kalgoorlie during the time of the initial development of the superpit and at the time it was acknowledged as the biggest man made hole in the earth anywhere in the world. I believe it is about to be surpassed by the new Boddington operations SE of Perth.... Still, very impressive to stand on the edge and look into...

And, if one is what is the other?

Henry,
The upper photo appears to be the Kalgoorlie horse racing track.

The lower photo is the Kalgoorlie International Speedway. This is to the north of the town. Speedway was conducted there after the demise of the Boulder Oval Speedway.
Unfortunately the Kalgoorlie track is unsuitable for solo bikes or sidecars.

Photo and comment on the Boulder Oval track features in an earlier thread on this forum.
