Oh, wait....

"Unfortunately, things involving me tend to evolve," Patrick said in the report. "I'm on the hot seat when I do something and when others do something (connected to me). It's kind of the line that I walk because I'm popular."

Video and report.

Danica said that? Pretty paranoid.

Can't wait for Paul Tracy to return and establish a proper order on the pit lane. :D

That would be hilarious.
If she came up to him and pulled the crap she has with Briscoe (?) and Duna, he would deck her. It was pretty funny when Tagliani pulled the yapping chihuahua act on him and Paul just turned around and tossed him.
Seriously though, Danicas head is getting so fat she is gonna start looking like a Mr. Potato Head dool.

if a slow driver was dodging around blocking and holding up the front runners - and causing safety problems for them - then ya'll would expect them to walk over and let the slow ass know they need to get out of the way... but since it's danica, it's her just being a bitch.

Danika seemed to be the reasonable one there, Milka was the one acting like a b****.

Was a crap argument anyway, was way too rational and clean languaged. I've seen better fights at pay and drive karting events.

How come none of the other drivers did anything?

Unless Danica was appointed by all the other drivers to have a chat with Milka, she's going farther then the other drivers.

Or maybe the other drivers were just on their way over to give their 2 cents but Danica is faster?

Now THIS incident I have no trouble with. None at all.

It's when Danica lays hands on and gets in the face of male competitors that I have problems. Or anybody who does something like that where the other person has no way to respond due to social rules. Since Milka has the ability to pop Danica if she puts her hands on her or goes overboard it gives a boundary to Patrick. That's why the incident didn't get out of hand.

Now as far as what was said and why...

I agree with Danica. She was pretty much on top of all points. Although her comment about being popular came off a bit odd to me.

I may think Danica is uber hyped and overrated, but she deserves to be racing. Milka on the other hand has been endangering drivers for years. In no way does she do women any good by being out there.

As chauvinist as it may sound, it shouldn't be allowed more than one woman in each racing series. It will become a mess out there.

Danica's frustrated, end of story. She won a race and has done jack since. It was supposed to be all down hill after getting her first win, instead it's been the opposite and she's swimming in a sea of midfield.

A member on my site whose husband works in the paddock stated that he spoke with Duno and that her main beef was that Danica had to address her with the cameras right there - apparently (his impressions from what she said), She (Duno) knew that something was up when the camera's arrived on site before Danica. Duno stated that she would have had no problems had Danica discussed the matter civily and without the TV being in sight.

According to Milka a good deal of drivers and teams are getting tired of the "It's all about Danica" show.

I imagine when she saw the cameras she knew what was up and that pretty much set the stage for the episode.

Funnily enough, that's the impression that I got from the video as well. Duno seemed to me to be refusing to discuss the issues with Patrick because the cameras were there. Don't blame Duno - the whole thing did look like a setup. That impression is aided by the way Patrick was clearly playing up to the cameras.

danica has as much control over where the cameras go, as milka does. if you don't like the media, don't run in a sport that gives them freedom to roam.

Sort of supports the point...

I understand that Danica opened with "You don't know what you are doing" or something along those lines....

Camera being there, Milka probably knew what was coming and with an opener like that - throwing the towel in so quick makes a lot of sense.

IMO the entire strategy of marketing Danica has failed. A good business plan always has a back out so what is the IRLs?

I'm sure the IRL's "business plan" does not include the "marketing" of Danica. Marketing and promotion are not the same thing. The key elements in marketing are Product, Place, Price, and Promotion -- aka the four Ps. Danica comes under Promotion.

However, the most important P for the IRL at the moment is Place, as in what is the '09 schedule going to look like. IRL is correctly far more focused on that. It affects not only marketing but the long term business strategy of the League.

Obviously Danica is a hot promotional focus right now, but not the whole show in anyone's estimation. Trouble is she is hot enough to obscure the rest of the promotional efforts. For example, fans here are clearly more fascinated with Danica than with Dixon's special season. That is not IRL's plan or doing; it just is. The IRL is not more focused on Danica than on with the '09 schedule or the other aspects of its marketing strategey or even its business plan. You are.

A "business plan" is an organized statement of a company's objectives.

Ok, so tempers get raised and words get said in racing. This is no way for two racing drivers to behave. JPM was ostracised for his hot-headed behaviour and got hounded for it. This has a novelty factor because it is two women drivers in a male dominated sport, so there is more of a spotlight on them. But that does not make it right or acceptable. It did look as though Danica had taken a film-crew with her. They should have their heads banged together by the governing body and be warned about their future conduct. If they want to further the cause of women drivers in racing, they should conduct themselves appropriately - with dignity.

Sorry McGuire but that's bullshit. If the IRL's "business plan" does not include the marketing of Danica they're ****ing idiots who deserve to fail as miserably as they have over the last decade. A "business plan" adapts to situations and is aware of its surroundings at all times - right now the best thing the IRL has going for it is Danica. Nobody gives a flying monkeys what the 09 schedule is going to look like, certainly not in the greater World beyond the IRL's tiny viewership. The IRL should be putting everything behind getting Danica out there (but not through bullshit like this) spreading the word of IRL and the excitement around it before it all gets lost - which it kinda has since she won her race in Motegi and slumped back to midfield. Nobody gives a **** about Scott Dixon I can tell you that. For the IRL to get out of its slump it needs to grow it's base - and Danica is the best route to that, not a schedule for 2009.

I believe that promoting (not marketing; that is a different activity) Danica is very important. So do the IRL and the broadcast partner, obviously.

However, I do not believe that the promoting Danica is more important to the long-term future of the series than securing a strong, perennial season schedule and then effectively promoting it. I would be horrified to learn that the IRL had adopted that strategy, as would the entire motorsports business community. If the schedule is weak or ineffectively promoted, Danica doesn't matter.

Also, please tone down your language so we can have a pleasant discussion. You are in no position to call anyone "****ing idiots." With all due respect, you are obviously not an authority on marketing or promotion.

Newsflash - the sport is weak and ineffectively promoted. The schedule is rather irrelevant behind that don't you think?

Something I share with those at the IRL then. Although I've had the pleasure of working of some rather successful products over the years from a development, marketing and promotion standpoint. I'll not claim to be an authority, it's not my specialized field, but anyone who thinks the IRL is doing a decent job is a bit offbase IMHO.

All I am saying is an actual reporter was told that MANY people in the IRL are sick and tired of the "Danica show"... This has been said by at least 3 drivers now according to him. He was also told that the camera was there before Danica - why???

It's quite obvious that either the league, ABC or possibly even both, are promoting the series with Danica at the helm.

Whether or not that superceeds the 09 schedule - nobody knows. But history is full of IRL business blunders enough to assume that could be the case.

I suppose the real question is - what does the IRL have to promote other then Danica? And that's giving the management at 16th and Georgetown the benefit of doubt that the CC buyout made them smarter - however THAT just does not make any sense now does it???

So lets see what we got...

- Majority oval platform to develop the the Indy brand = Failed.
- Link to the lower ranks to help develop smaller teams and more American drivers = Failed.
- Using Gene Simmons to market the series = Failed.
- Adding road courses = Jury is out but I say other then making CC irrelevant that they lose out on this because the cars look like dogs on these tracks.
- Buy out of CC = Failed because the numbers have not show any real success and the IRL completely missed out on marketing the merger (yuk).
- Danica = IMO this is a failure as well because while the IRL media are defending her the mass media cannot stand her.

So what to do?

Sure the schedule is key but HOW do you market a series that no one has ever cared about at a mass level - same can be said for CC as well???? Even more so how do you do that in this economy?

I takeback everything I ever said about Milka having no business being in the Indycar series.

Based solely on only ever seeing her crap photo on the grid line-up on TV, I never realised how hot she is man !!!!! Ha ha, darts!!

She can stay. And that Latin temperament.....WAHEY !!!!!

Down with Danica the spoiled brat.

Big  to Milka, the dangerous Latino from the wrong side of the tracks !!!

Awesome awesome awesome. We need to see this sort of stuff shown on TV whenevera full-course yellow comes out. What a wasted chance not doing that.

No, absolutely not. If the series is weak, why is that? The schedule is a critical element. There are cities where OW racing is consistently successful, and cities where you can't give it away. There are venues that produce great shows, and venues where the show is horrible. So if the schedule is weak, the product will be weak. The strongest products largely promote themselves. Weak products can be impossible to promote or market.

As I said right at the start, promotion is only one piece of marketing.

So was Jim Hurtubise in his Mallard, they did stop him and the new theys have blackflagged Milka.

Maybe aportinga thinks that Ashley Judd was working the camera for that Milka/Danica moment ????

Hey !!! Wasn't that Howard, JFK and Elvis in the background ??
