and you know why? he could call his autobiography (for his life as a pundit) 'the man who was too good'....poor Martin, his gridwalk was THE start of the GP for me, whether i was trudging around a store or entertaining an offspring, quarter to was 'gridwalk time' and then the GP is on so please don't expect any more attention and erm, is there coffee?

Lately, he just doesn't seem to have the access that he used to have.....the 'spinners' may say that his anarchist comments didn't help his cause but even without that Martin may be past his sell-by date with 'the faces' on the grid.....i've watched him kinda grasp for conversation recently and it's a little tragic so with a heavy heart I think we're enduring a long, slow goodbye at the mo....
Perhaps a change of style for the Beeb....not so involved but at the heart of the action, a presenter walks down the grid, points at cars, tells us the latest (i mean WHITE-hot) news on each car....whispers of strategy, drivers mood in the parade, ambient conditions etc....get to the heart of the action but maybe not trying to get 'the word on the street', as the word recently has been....bland

Sorry martin, you've redefined the 'colour' role, i tip my cap, you're a legend

I think the nice folk at the beeb saw that too and his commercial interests in 2MB Sports Management might be a put-off also.Originally posted by wrighty

I hope they don't drop brundle. A friend sent to me a recording of him driving those cars at silverstone and i can remember he was very good. His voice was very sexy and i thought almost orgasmic when he was saying " oh baby, yeah baby" as he drove that vintage around silverstone. I also remember him interviewing bryan adams....
Martin: "Bryan, glad I caught up with you. Had to run to you. It seems like everything I do today is in a bit of a rush, but please forgive me." ... "The first time I went to a Grand Prix I thought I was going to go to Heaven." ... "These drivers are pretty reckless, but they don't give up do they?" ... "Thanks for talking to us, let's hope we can make it a race to remember."
Bryan Adams: "Yeah, when you're gone."
Laughed like crazy

Martin Brundle: "Kimi you missed the presentation by Pele. Will you get over it?"
Kimi Raikkonen: "I was having a shit"
Martin Brundle: "*laughs* Okay, you'll have nice light car then"
I love you Martin!

Did a very good job with Ecclestone at Indianapolis in 2005.Originally posted by Suntrek
I really liked the way he stood up to Maxxx and his load of rubbish in Monza 2006. Kudos, Martin!![]()
I would be very disappointed if the BBC didn't keep Brundle as co-commentator. He does excellent work and I don't think there's anyone out there who could fill the role better. Some have suggested Anthony Davidson but it would be a travesty if he's not in a racing car of some sort next year.

DC's BBC deal has been rumoured since back in May, so I'm sure Brundle will be aware of it.
He knows the game, and has said TV is as ruthless as F1.
He's also a fighter so will end up doing something successful.
He'd make a great Stig, a hundred times quicker than Ben Bloody Collins.

The BBC are very selective about who they dump on for having commercial/political ties - Kirsty Walk is practically a mouthpiece for the Labour Party, and several commercial interests seem to acquire her presence, but she still fronted Newsnight for years. Auntie Beeb, bless her cotton socks, seems to have no trouble sub-contracting work to "independent" production companies with close ties to people who work for her.
The problem with BBC coverage may be the modern producers who hate the sport and just want the personalities, so expect bimbos to be doing studio interviews during the race. If you think I'm joking, it was reported that overheard on the satellite link to Augusta was the exasperated call from a producer in London, to "Stop showing all that golf and get back to the interviews............................................."
