British-centric post alert...

We've had a thread running for a long time about the merits and demerits of ITV's coverage:

http://forums.autosp...&threadid=81373

And one predicting what BBC's coverage will be like next year:

http://forums.autosp...threadid=103303

The question is, will BBC's F1 coverage next year be better than ITV's is now?

A lot will, obviously, rest on who the presenters are.

No Ads, and fingers crossed, no James Allen... nuff said. 7 days on the iPlayer as well for added joy.

I'm not convinced that it won't be the kind of bloated, populist, infantile drivel the BBC seems to specialise in. Think Alan Shearer and Mark Lawrenson continuing to opine on Match of the Day, or that Horizon narrator who doggedly sticks to his pronunciation of 'nucular'.

No need to judge it before Melbourne, though. :)

Good point - presuming it is made available on the iplayer.

I know the highlights are available on the ITV-F1 site, but not (i think) the full race...I wonder if it will be the full race or just the highlights that are featured on the iplayer?

Even if they end up more annoying than JA, SR etc (if that is possible), even if they replace the commentary with love songs devoted to Lewis Hamilton, even if they feature an orange panda running up and down the car park for thirty minutes before the race, it will be better because there will be no f***ing adverts

 (although references to orange pandas, whilst not essential, do add to the fun)

It depends on who they bring along. If they for instance wanna include lewis number one fanboy andrew benson (the guy who runs bbc motorsport webpage) in its gonna be worse than listening to the c***. If they do theyl probably rename the show into: the lewis hamilton show. Other than that i dont know. Would be nice if the could have dc as commentator a la brundle. The lack of adds will be a sigh of relief though.

We get at least 15 more minutes race each weekend, that alone will make it better then ITV“s efforts.

Hansen is pretty good. But the BBC appear completely unaware of which of their pundits are capable of making insightful analysis, or even forming coherent arguments, and for this reason I am quietly anxious over their choice of analysts and commentators for Formula One. It goes without saying that Maurice Hamilton should move across to their television pundit team, if he's willing.

The full race is available on the ITV Catch Up thing: http://www.itv.com/catchup

Who's the little fanboy seperate to all of us who's chose to vote for BBC's F1 coverage will be much worse?

A little better due to no adverts, but I'm not expecting the tone of commentary etc. to change much. Whilst ITV love Lewis for the ratings, the BBC also love bigging up Brits and are prone to a bit of rating-chasing themselves at times.

No adverts and the loss of James Allen? They're going to have to do something drastically wrong to make it worse. These aside tho, Martins features and grid walks and alot of the coverage in general has been very good from ITV so I predict a bit better.

As they haven't announced who the presenters will be it is hard to say.

I am assuming that Jeremy Clarkson is foaming at the mouth to be a part of it... Now that would be just hilarious

Richard Hammond doesn't like F1 - so he probably wouldn't want to have anything to do with it, of course that would give him an "outside" POV.

Not to leave James May out but he just doesn't like racing period.

Who knows maybe they could create a Top Gear F1 special event

Here in Canada - we get the ITV feed direct though TSN - except for the 1/2 hour pre race show which is just pathetic. We can also get the SpeedTV show coverage but it isn't a lot better - mostly they whine about not having a US Grand Prix - but SpeedTV is just the NASCAR channel now so it really isn't worth watching.

I second that, as long as they have the race and qualy I'm not to bothered about the rest of the fluff. Oh and also, no 'Coronation Street follows the race' banners!

A little better...but that's all I'm expecting at the moment. I don't really wish to be dissapointed although I'd like to see Brundle make the jump to the BBC because, whilst Ryder can do the footie coverage and Allen could move onto ITV's BTCC coverage (perhaps?), Brundle probably won't really do much at a F1-less ITV...well he?

Anyway, like I said,a little better because of no Allen and no more adverts and the fact it could be on iPlayer but it'll be much better with the coverage was slightly less impartial than ITV's current Lewis-lovefest...

The good: No ads, BBC have a brilliant online delivery system.
The bad: If the BBC's other international sports coverage is anything to go by, ITV's fawning over Lewis Hamilton will be tame in comparison.
