Accept my apologies MONTOYASPEED, I didn't know that you used your browser to browse this website only. Now things make sense Posted Image

You make it sound as if I asked you sell your child so that you can browse the net without annoyances :rotfl: Didn't know people could become addicted to malware like IE :p

Another vote for Firefox and adblock. Easy peasy. The web looks so much better advert-free.

Firefox + Adblock + NoScript gets rid of pretty much everything you don't want.

If you continue to be bothered by this issue, let me know.

Google: The offending 'dead' ad has been blocked from our site, as has any ad mentioning dead in the title.

And finally, to clarify, as a subscriber to autosport.com you will not see any ads when browsing autosport.com (unless you are not logged in). The forums operate outside of this, so even if you are a subscriber, you will see leaderboard ads at the top of the page.

I hope this helps. As I say, if these issues persist, let me know.

Cheers
David

Thanks Ginga, it seems to have improved greatly. However, there is still one ad (for Sun-Maid raisins) that is still causing problems, expanding without any click or rollover. There may still be other bad ads as well, but this is the only one I've seen so far.

I understand and have no problem with leaderboard ads. However, they continue to open up, even w/o mouse-over or click. It's extremely annoying.

To be honest I do find it strange that people educated in the ways of modern technology would continue to use Internet Explorer. I can understand it if it's a corporate standard and it's forced upon you but otherwise it's a very silly decision. IE is for people that really know no better, those that have just discovered computing for example.

and ...the National Guard & JCPenney's/Levi's & Circuit City

It seems to be getting worse this evening.

I use the new Google or firefox
on both the the top non popup ads slow
and sometimes stop the page loading
but it is a random problem
some days bad on some ads
today it is working ok
the day before some pages would not load at all
and others were very slow
other days loads fairly quickly
even with the same ads
the more changes in an ad the worse it gets
when the system is slow

I am on a DSL so most thing load quickly

Yes, very annoying indeed. And I thought I hated raisins before all this.

Sun maid and the noisy microsoft ad should now have stopped as well. If you continue to see them it means I've stopped the wrong campaign, so let me know if they are still causing irritation.

Thanks
David

Thanks very much for sucessfully addressing this. I haven't noticed any expanding ads for the last couple of days. You have helped restore my faith in corporate PR , though I may never buy another package of raisins as long as I live!

They're back in a big way. Every single ad expands. This is the only site anywhere on the web I pay for, yet it's also the only site where I have this issue. ):

Should be safe to browse now without the Incredible Hulk (or any other ad) jumping out onto your screen. Let me know if the problem persists.

Bit annoying that Autosport have taken the stance of placing adverts in the RSS feeds now. I can sort of understand this board having ads as it is a separate entity, but the feeds are part of the main site and as a print/web subscriber I would prefer the option not to have to view these. Could they not create a separate RSS feed for us subscribers?

I'm currently subscribed to the F1 feed. It seems to be every other news story that has a banner (well square shaped) ad on it. I read my feeds through Google Reader, don't know if that makes any difference?

That's strange... I'm also using Google Reader, here's what it looks like for me: (seems like I'm also missing the "e-mail this" and "bookmark" links)
