Lewis avoids Croydon!

story here
It seems that local radio said that Lewis would be visiting Croydon (armpit of the universe) when they meant Woking. But McLaren don't have any offices or facilities in Croydon (don't blame them) - but the paper still found 'one disappointed fan'. Where was he expecting to see him?
What other places didn't Lewis visit yesterday? I certainly didn't see him. Did you?

He didn't say he was coming here.
And he didn't come here.
That's just plain wierd!!!!!!
Something for the press hounds to get their teeth into!
P.S. I was born in Lewisham, I would avoid Croydon as well!!
OhOh! There could be worms and cans involved here.

It takes about half an hour to get from Croydon to Woking by train (changing at Clapham Junction).
If they were really all that gutted about missing out on the opportunity to see him, they could have gone to Woking to stand around near the McLaren HQ hoping to see him on his way out...

Just got off the crystal ball with Elvis. He said that the crash was actually with Martin Luther King (who apparentley drives like a nutcase!) They had stopped to pick up Lewis and give him a lift to the moon where he had a secret meeting with Barack Obama to discuss arranging for John McCain to always have lower pressure in his Nike Pumps!!!!!
Tony.
Edit: This is getting surreal!

Personally I think Croydon is far nicer than Stevenage

HaHaHa yes they would remove his wheels faster than the McLaren pit crew

I'd postulate that on the flip side , nearly all F1 racing drivers have visited Hungaroring, but only a very small percentage of posters here have done the same.
You'd think that us F1 fans would go where the drivers go, but...no, we jus' hang around in Croydon waiting for 'em to turn up.

I put it with all the other bottles we've received and made them both a cup of tea (Lewis is quite partial to green tea, but I told him I haven't had time to buy all the frou-frou stuff for the house yet, so he'll have to make do with normal tea), but they couldn't hang around for long because Nick was moving into his new place and his brother was giving him a hand by driving the van. I gave them a bottle of champagne from the pile to celebrate, but at least it was a different one than the one they gave me.
Oddly enough, when I walked down the road to get the paper a little later I saw a young kid looking very disappointed: obviously I didn't talk to him, but he may have been upset at not seeing Lewis. Although, frankly, I think it was more likely that the dismay on his face was courtesy of the bus which had just gone through a large puddle and soaked him through.

That depends on which channel everyone is watching I guess!!!

Well, how could he have been in Bath, as I was already there?
Ahh no, sorry, what I meant was that I had taken a bath. But, on the other hand, he couldn´t have possibly been there, as I had already taken it. Anyway, confusing as it all is, I´m still a bit miffed.

No, he was in the white van behind (it takes a while to work out the one way system around here), but he did giggle when he saw it. Nick gave him a bit of a punch in the arm for it, but even he was smirking. And to be fair, I had to walk down the laneway to avoid laughing in the kid's face. Soaked, distraught kid by the side of the road = comedy gold.Originally posted by Anomnader

Long running Mansell celebration?Originally posted by Dunder
Was truly disappointed last night. Saw and heard the fireworks and assumed it must be a victory parade for Lewis. Duly went out intent on inviting him for a beer.
Turned out it was just some 400 year old tradition.
