Talking to Bruce Richardson this evening Arnold's name came up...

Going back to c1956 when Bruce went with Joe Hills to Mt Druitt for his first race meeting, Bruce recalled the impression three of the drivers had on him.

"There was Joe Martin, Keith Walsh and Arnold Glass, all with a number of girls sitting all over their cars," he began. "They were drinking champagne and when it was time for one of them to go out to race they'd scoop the girls off their car and dash out to the track. After each race they'd be back, the girls would again sit on the cars and the champagne drinking would be resumed."

It certainly changed Bruce's view of what he thought racing drivers were really like!

Though I would have thought that even then no drinking before racing. Unless the girls alone were drinking champagne.

Afterwards the drivers should be in celebration or consolation.

Strangely enough I dont think I have ever drunk champagne at a race track, even as a spectator. And I do like it with a meal.

Mark Bisset has dug up this photo relating the Glass BRM Buick in NZ.

Ross Jensen @ Puke on 2 Feb 1963. Third ever Puke meeting- Jensen drove when Arnold was recovering from a water skiing accident.

The photo must have been taken close to arrival of the car at the Auckland Car Club Pukekohe meeting. Held the same day as the NZ Gold Star meeting at Waimate. Why I mention close to arrival is because it carries number 7, but as far as I'm aware it reced with number 204.
