I stumbled across a website recently, that mentioned Open Wheel racing in latvia during the 1960s. This got my erratic thought processes going.
Although Most of the readers here have an enclyclopedic knowledge of racing from the 50s to the 80s, who knows anything about what went on in eastern europe during that time.
The cars on the site were mainly Formula Juniors powered by DKW 2 Stroke engines. They generally looked well made and seemed to follow western cars in design.
I would be really keen to know more.
Can any one help? Pictures or links to sites would be great.
Thanks.

In the 1960s Latvia was part of Soviet Union although modern Latvia hate this fact. Motor racing in Latvia was part of Soviet sport. You can find something interesting at http://www.stop-n-go...ussr-autosport/.

For a start you had formula easter with Lada engines, there is a german site on the web which gives quite a bit of information. I'll have to look it up

I seem to remember that Motoring News used to do reviews of East European motorsport during the winter.
Is there much motor sport over in that part of the world now?
