Ivan.
You have to complete all the class events first. This will then open the opiton to modify the car, and some more events. This is not the full "tune up" (you can't "buy" new parts) but you can make some adjustments. Beware though, this is sometimes limited by the event, i.e balancing weight with power to achieve a balance between cars. So you still have to choose your car carefully!!!
Have you tried the game "online" yet?
Tony.

Take note of the words of wewantourdarbyback here.
He's absolutely right!

I have loved GT since the first in '97. online was a bit of a disapointment.

Not because of the game, but because lots of people seem to have bought GT but want to play Burnout.

You're welcome, by the way

Tony.

I did a setup on the Lotus 111 R car, and it was awesome in the 700 point class I think it was, at Suzuka. Except for its slow start at the beginning, it was normally the fastest car there, only threatened by excellent drivers in FordGTs and one other car - I forget which. The Nissan skylines were easy to beat ...

I don't disagree.

I also enjoyed playing GT (finally!) online, having played, since '97, one player, split screen and even LAN network. What I found difficult to stomach was the sheer number of total idiots playing, and their unbelievable behaviour. A good example is the High Speed Ring . After the start straight and first banked curve, the next short straight is a nightmare, if you start at the back it is difficult to believe your eyes, with players swerving literally from left curb to the right curb every time someone gets close to them. I haven't seen so much tyre smoke since Jeremey Clarkson discovered the Bently Azure!!!

I've always seen GT as what it is supposed to be, a driving game, not a crashing game. The P.I.T manouvre has no place in GT.(IMO) Of course this all stems from the fact that there is no car damage. Apparently (and here's hoping like hell) this will change for the full game, and it will cost credits to repair the car. Maybe this will stop the idiots, BUT, and in the words of Arnold Rimmer.................
" Like German tourists, the stupid are eveywhere! "*

Well anyway, maybe I'm just a GT purist and take it all to seriously, but I don't come to their schools and stamp in the middle of their game of hopscotch now do I!!!

Ivan ,
forgot to mention, finishing all the events will also open up 3 new cars, but I'm not going to say what they are, coz itza surprise!!!
Tony.

* This is not meant to be in any way insulting or derogative towards persons of Germanic persuasion!

Hopefully this will change when private rooms are introduced in the full version. Sometime next year. Or, the year after.

Tony I think that swerving is related to the internet, not to the cars themselves.
As an example, I think that happens much more on the first lap. If you get away from the cars a couple of laps later, then the swerving is much less IMO - which indicates that the huge swerving sometimes at the starts, is related to the Net.
I imagined that when I was being very cautious, I would have seemed to be swerving all over the place too ...

You're not wrong,

Having said that however, I do think that some people's behaviour sometimes does leave a lot to be desired but, as jaisli points out here, when private rooms are incorporated in the final game the bad apples can be weeded out.
hopefully when the damage modelling is incorporated it will change things somewhat, and hopefully get rid of those awful time penalties as well!!

Have a nice weekend,
Tony.

I should give you the names of my husband and his friends - they play online a lot and are very anti-crashing etc..
My husband actually was a competitor in the Electronic Sports World Cup in Paris in 2005 and 2006 for Gran Turismo - a lot of the guys in that competition play online as well - and don't do all the bashing and crashing!
Good idea is if you get your mates aroudn the world together at a certaina time and try at meet up online When the real game is out, private rooms is the way to go. At the moment, my husband just organises a time with his mates in Australia and they meet up
You can also just do LAN at home - we have our garage set up for it - 6 Playstations, 6 wheels, 6 tv's - and headphones - i'd go crazy if I had to listen to the cars as well as the boys!

That's a good idea. At her moment the online mode is a bit limited, but for the full game this is certainly what I have in mind.

I will be online this weekend at a friend's place, racing under the name "Sheep Thrills" (yeah, I know it's a silly name but he's a dutchman

BTW, your garage sounds like my heaven!!!

murska80,
In it's current itteration the game has no damage model. This will be in the final game but, at the moment, unfortunately no damage.

Sorry, didn't manage to make it online during the weekend due to sickness (someone else's, not mine!)
The sheep thing is not lost on me,

(In the UK we make the same jokes about the Welsh! Only they don't find it funny!! : )
