I saw this in the shop, and it's the update of F12000 by EA. I was wondering if anyones played it and can give any views on it.

I'd rent it, but the stupid video shop don't want to get another F1 game in because F199 only rented 3 times or something.

I'll look for reviews on the net in the mean time.

Just picked it up yesterday for $20 bucks at the local BestBuy. Its not bad. And it includes the USGP which is a big plus. Force feedback isn't that great, but its worth it. I'm impressed with the number of factors and adjustments that you can make in the car. And the tracks are pretty precise as far as timing around the tracks and scale - but then again, I've only raced on the Monza and Indy track so far - those are the only two that I know.

I feel for 20 bucks, its worth it. It does have networking support - just plug in the IP - but I have not tested it over the net to see if its net capable of doing so. It just says 2-8 players on a tcp/ip compliant network.

Video - its just "good", not great or outstanding, but just "good". I'd rate it at about a 5 on a 1-10 list. But keep in mind, its a GeForce 2 64meg DDR card, so I have _everything_ turned on.

WAs that the game they showed on the F1 last night tom?

If so, that's not the one I was talking about. That was Formula One 2000 by psygnosis

It's the PSX version of F1 championship season 2000 I'm talking about BTW.

yep it was on the add while suzuka was on.
pretty lame again i thought.

but ok you're talking about ea sports, i don't like their games so far, and they don't have murry walker??

i wish , and we've all been wishing this for years, that ****nosis could just take f197, never mind about the friggin graphics, just change the teams to the right year, let the back end of the car drift slightly , and have more realistic tyre wear.

thats all i ask , i don't give a stuff about the graphics, they don't need to be any better than 97's graphics, whats their problem gr ??

Bizzare Creations (who made F1 and F197) are now independant and do what they want. They done a racing game on the Dc, which is meant to be good.

But for PS2's F1 game by Psygnosis, it is being done by Studio Liverpool, who done Wipeout 2097 I think. It should be good.

But F12000 by Psyg is being done by Studio 33, like F199 was done last year.

But I agree tom. Just take F197's game and graphics engine, tweak it a bit, update it and I'll be happy.

I don't care for graphics as long as it races ad drives well. I've yet to come across a game that races and drives aswell as F197 does. It's a classic, yet highly underrated by many I think. Even though it's 3 years old, I still think it's great.

G-R, I think (not certain-mind you) that F1 Championship Season 2000 is for the PS2. I don't think (again, not certain) that it is compatible with PSX (PS1).

I bought F1 2000 (EA Sports) when it was released back in March-April?? I found it's ease in terms of AI competition to be WAY too easy. As you and tom have stated, F1 97/CE is still tops for the Playstation IMHO. I would rate them:

1: F1 97/Champ.Ed. (Psygnosis/Bizzare Creations)
2: Formula One (1996) (Psygnosis/Bizzare Creations)
3: Formula One 99 (Psygnosis/Studio 33)
4: F1-2000 (EA Sports)
5: Monaco Grand Prix (1999-Ubisoft)
6: F1-World Challenge Grand Prix (2000-Eidos)
7: Formula One 98 (Psygnosis/Dumbass Programmers)

i've got monaco gran prix.
this is how i'd rate them

1 - f197
2 - monaco gran prix
3 - any other f1 game released on playstation, in other words, all the rest suck.

by the way jacman, why don't you come back for suzuka?, seeing how it's a drivers track and all, and its the last race for us.
me and gr need some compitition here.

Trust me Jacman, it's F1 Championship Season 2000 By EA Sports for PSX.

PS2 isn't out in NZ yet. The game was right infront of my face. PSX version.

However, there is a PS2 version of the game too.

Go here, this is teh game I'm talking about

http://store.gamezon...oduct.x?1455630

My rating (on the games I've played, demo or otherwise)

1) F1 97
2) F1 (96)
3) Monaco GP (only for the handling. F199 is overall a better game, but I couldn't care less since the handling is ****)
4) F199

Games yet to be decided: F1 2000, Champion Season, Formula One 2000 (psyg)

This is the same game I saw for sale recently in a department store. Given EA's dissapointing effort earlier this year with F1 2000, I was hesitant to pay $40 U.S. until I get more info.

I suppose the curiosity will get the better of me by the end of the week, and I will make the purchase with a forthcoming review....

F1 Championship Season 2000 is pretty good in my opinion. It's better then F1 2000, which is better than F1 World Grand Prix 1999. They all do their job of entertainment. I would recommend F1 Championship Season 2000 for the PSX gamer. The AI is still pretty easy to beat, but it has a new training feature that teaches you how to drive the courses. There is a marginal improvement on the graphics, the sound is much better.

I am new to writing reviews, so if you have any questions just ask.

Gang,
I've had the game for a few hours now and it's much better than the original. One thing I noticed was that - while qualifing for the first race with Button, I went out on dry tires and posted a 1:15:xx, no one went out for five minutes and it started to rain everyone else went out on wets and couldn't touch the time. In the old game you couldn't do that. I like the scenario mode it reminds my of the Sega game I used to have. Now if some would only come out with a Super Monaco type game, where you start out as no one and have to earn your ride or get demoted.

I forgot to add, why does the car come closer to you when you brake or get off the gas?

I beleive Konami or someone (could be eidos) is coming out with a F1 game with a career mode.

What happens is you test to get a drive. When ever you get a good result in a race, you get moeny that goes towards the team to improve the car over the season.
And if you do good etc you'll get offers from better teams and stuff

I've heard so many great things about F197. I'm fairly new to this PSX stuff and I do like F1 Championship Season 2000, but is F197 still available? I'm in the States, by the way. Thanks..

As far as I know, in the states, it was called F1:CE (Championship Edition). You'll be lucky if you find a copy
