Does anyone know when Prix Editions stopped publishing, the last issue I have is May 1991 and the first issue of Chequered Flag in March 1992 laments the demise of Prix Editions so it was sometime between those dates but anyone know when?

Likewise the last Chequered Flag I have is dated July 1997 so if anyone knows when that ceased publication I'd be grateful.

I've tried British Library newspaper catalogue but no info on there so I'm hoping someone here knows

Nice that you still remember Chequered Flag, josefk.

I was the editor when it launched in 1991. When Prix Editions was closed, there seemed a gap in the market. At the time we were riding on the crest of a Mansell wave, and without much competition out there we did fairly well as a publication. Back then, you could throw a mag together with reasonably low overheads, and get it onto a prominent shelf at WH Smiths. But it wasn't long before the big guns started formulating plans to publish F1 titles, and the writing was on the wall for a small-time magazine. I got out in summer 1994 before it (and I) imploded. I understand it continued until 1997, but am not certain whether it covered that season in its entirety.

I've a box full of them, somewhere, a copy of every edition up until I left.

Hi Peter

Yes Chequered Flag opened very brightly I never noticed before but on checking I see you left around August 1994 and it seemed to go through some doldrums where almost every article was written by Mark or Carol Venables. I got pretty much every issue from Aug 1992 til end 1993 but only sporadically after, hence my question

Your email prompted me to look back on some of the issues I have and I was impressed how your editors photo seemed to age you backwards from a suited and booted chartered accountant style in August 1992 to funky red tee shirt in 1994 :)

By the way where did the GP Sport thing fit it? Was that a magazine you took over or just a byline. Never really got that.

In those days, there was much more choice for UK F1 fans as regards magazines. Both Chequered Flag and Prix Editions were a good read, and also good fun.

I had forgotten that Prix Editions was still being published in mid-1991.

Interesting, I thought that there were only 2 issues in 1987 Nov and Dec, I didn't know there was an August. I now know I'm missing 3 then. The first year was only published in Australia I think.
