Autosport is reporting the death of Teddy Mayer

Another giant of F1 gone.
He was running Mclaren when I started following Formula 1 and recall reading stories of him by Rob Walker.
He built McLaren into a racing winning manufacturer in both F1 and Indy/CART.
Motorsport was in his blood and he was with Penske till 2007
My condolences to his friends and family

R.I.P Teddy, such an intrinsic part of McLaren, from my earliest days at Brands Hatch (early '60s) I read about, and saw Teddy's input to a great team, he bowed out in a championship year.

Indeed. RIP, Teddy.
His greatest work in F1 was really a few decades before my time, but having read so much of him since becoming really interested in F1 myself, his contribution to the gestation, stature and cause of McLaren is obvious.

RIP Teddy! Did he an RD have a good relationship when he left McLaren or was he pressured into departing in 1982?

Sad news. Teddy was one of the last of the "old school" McLaren crew.

Sad news. I worked in F1 in the seventies and had cause to meet with Teddy Mayer many times, and even though I was a bit of a "nobody" in the business (and very young and stupid!) he was always very helpful and friendly to me (as were the rest of his team). A gentleman.
