Hi Lee

I know there's been a pic of one of the Longman/Datapost cars on here recently if you haven't seen it- think it's in the 'Personal Photos of British Club Racing' thread.

You mentioned the John Jeffreys Engineering carsdriven by Richard Belcher - from memory (there's a Group A Mk3 Escort thread over on ten-tenths, but I think you're already aware of that?) there were two of these, a Group A RS1600i in 1985 and later a Production Saloon RS Turbo. The RSi went to New Zealand with Andrew Bagnall/Motorsport Pacific at the end of '85 for the Nissan-Mobil series and later appeared at Bathurst in '86, still in the red/white/blue Jeffreys colours.

NZ seems to have been a popular destination for ex-UK Mk3 Escort racers- do you know if the Jeffreys car still survives there?

Incidentally, have you seen this?

Moza, is your contact likely to have any more general information about the late Mark Lovell around that time? I am trying to establish whether ML had a road car (Granada Ghia X Estate) on loan from Ford alongside the RS Turbo "works" drive.

The rally cars seem even more forgotten than the racers- though from memory they had nothing like the same degree of success, even in their class.

Before Mark Lovell's RS Turbo (the BT Radiopaging-backed car wasn't it?), a programme was run by MCD Services/RED for Malcolm Wilson, Louise Aitken-Walker and Lovell. There as a pic of one of the cars posted in the rally photos thread on here a couple of weeks back

Didn't Ford run some kind of one-make series on national-level rallies for turbocharged Mk3s before the RS Turbo was homologated?
