Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew (or can remember) the wheel sizes of the Brabham BT44? Were they 13" at the front and 15" at the rear? I really have no idea and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to offer any help? Thank you very much to anyone who can offer any help at all...

Hi there - I can't answer your question definitively, but can tell you that BT44B (the 1975 car) ran 13" diameter wheels front and rear (according to Autocourse).

Hopefully someone with the 74-75 edition will step forward and nail this one for you!

The Ulrich Schwab yearbooks mentions 13" all round for both 1974 and 1975 - like most other top-line cars...

From Autocourse 1974 for the BT44:

Wheel diameter: 12 or 13 inch front, 10 or 13 inch rear.

The Tyrrell 007 had 12 or 13 inch front, all other cars 13 inch.
All other cars were either 13 inch of 13 or 15 inch rear. 10 seems small and why would thay be the only ones?.

Wheel Rim Widths: 10 inch front, 18 of 19 inch rear.

On the other cars the fronts are generally 10 or 11 inches, with the Ferrari 312B-3/74 quoted as 9 or 11 inches and the Parnelli VPJ-4 as 10, 11 or 12 inches.

For the rears the cars were generally a combination of 1 or more of 17, 18 or 19 inches, with Ferrari down as 16 or 18 inches, McLaren 16 or 18 inches, Tyrrell 006 15 to 17 inches and the Tyrrell 007 as 15 to 19 inches.

In 74 Brabham worked closely with Goodyear with 10'' wheels all round, (with suitably adapted rear suspension!) at a number of Euro GP practice sessions with Reutemann at the wheel. The 'Rollerskate' Brabham.
have only seen one picture (partial, showing the rear wheel and suspension), does anyone have any more info on this experiment, or even track shots?
