Hear hear. If only Buford and fines could have agreed to disagree, we could still have them both contributing here, and perhaps Don as well. Everyone has lost as a result of this unfortunate dispute, especially those of us who greatly enjoyed hearing from these three eminent TNFers.Members fall by the wayside all the time, but I really miss Buford.

I see that Buford and fines are still listed as members here, and Don last posted yesterday on the Private Messaging thread
Yes, to me......see post #398.

Then don't. As you say Rob, most of your information has come from just one of those involved. Other people who were involved would have other points of view but I see absolutely no value whatsoever in airing those views yet again.Have to be a bit careful here, don't want to stir anything up uneccessarily...

Personally i hope it concentrates on the racing and if they do add the concerts, then the acts have broad rock appeal, without being superstars.
On the circuit I will be happy if we get the usual WSCM race on the saturday evening and ecstatic if we get some Group 7 cars and an appearance from Bernard's Mk2 BRM V16 (dream on eh!)

Understand the Pre War Sports Car race is off programme for 2010
The Silverstone Classic 2010 was soft launched at the Classic Show on 13th November. Most of the grids have been agreed and signed up. We will not disclose the race programme until all grids have confirmed attendance. Tickets are on sale on the web site and are selling. Concerts will feature in the schedule. The whole programme is bigger and better than last year.

It deserves success but should have grids representing all decades 20's through to end of 80's.
90's are to late to be included.

We attended this in 2008 and again last summer (2008 being by far the better event in my opinion) but I doubt we will be doing so again in 2010.
Oulton Park Gold Cup instead I think!

I see that the prices have gone up quite significantly from last year if you add in the booking fee, and a charge is now being made for children.

If you book now, the cost is reduced significantly over the on-the-day cost.

Likewise if you book whilst at Race Retro 2010.

We have booked in advance for the last two years so this increase in the guise of a booking fee does make a difference to what we are expected to pay, especially for a party of four adults and a child. Works out at an extra £30 I think. I can't remember paying a booking fee in previous years and the charge for 6-16 year olds is also new, for the under 12's anyway. They have been free in previous years.
I was disappointed with 2009 compared to 2008 and the increase in charges is the tipping point in the decision about whether or not to book for 2010.
It's a shame because I like Silverstone, even though it's a long way for us to travel, and we really enjoyed the 2008 event.
By the way I do applaud the fact that you come on a forum like this to deal with comments about the event, I wish other event organisers would do the same.

As I said earlier if you book at Race Retro 2010 you get the cheaper "in advance price", I also suspect you might avoid the booking fee.

However i will probably be there at least for the Saturday. it will be interesting to see which bands/Acts are booked. Also keen to see the races for 2010.

c£75 for 3 days is still a lot of money and a family of 4 (2+2) will have little change from £200 if they buy a programme.

If you are a member of a car club which will be present at the SC10, you will be entitled to a BOGOF deal through the code supplied to your club. The special deals for car clubs run until 31st March 2010. The combination of deals should mean that your family of 4 will be around £100.00 for the three days rather than £200.00 even if they buy a programme. Radios will be extra as last year.

The BOGOF deal seems to bring it into the realms of good value. I paid £60 per head to see the Royal Philamonic at the Roayal Albert Hall last night. Possibly the venue with the worst accoustics in the world.
The price will include the concerts on both Friday and Saturday and we are working on some music on Sunday this year as well.

£75 a lot for 3 DAYS ? Having this year paid £50 to seee Ry Cooder,£55 to see Bill Bailey and £Idare not tell you how much for an evening at ROH Covent Garden I think it's more than reasonable. And I'm a bloody Yorkshireman...
Me too John, but the reality is that £200 is a lot of dosh in these times. I agree that the BOGOF deal is good and will be speaking to a number of my mates about it. The music issue is very personal. i have been to 2 concerts in the last 2 weeks and paid £19 and £27 to see 2 of the greatest 80's british metal bands. Bill Bailey - £55? that stretches the imagination a little. If the groupds are not to your taste then it means the concert element is irrelevant.
Still....how about some Group 7 (Masters Interseries Retro or Orwell Supersports) and some symphonic V16.

Ken. Whats happening about the "trade stands"???????
We also launched the trade stands at the Classic Show. We are open for bookings and have already taken quite a few. There is a discount for early booking. We aim to increase the trade element significantly this year. We hope to introduce a new section for local food producers who will sell their products to visitors to enable them to compile their own picnics on site.

Ken,
Last year the trade stands started in a nice compact set of rows but then degenerated into a car boot sale type arrangement beyond this. The FOS is very well organised in this regard and i think it is essential that all the trade stands (memorabilia, models, prints etc are kept together). The cost of attending for the traders is very high and I strongly feel they should be given a platform to sell their goods and treated with dignity. Early booking discounts are a good idea as long as you don't 'broker/job' out any spare capacity at the eleventh hour at a bigger discount.
The reason I mention this, is that browsing and buying from the traders enriches the whole festival experience for many people and is a great way of filling in time between the races you prefer to watch.
Mark.

Anyone who was following the unpleasantness of a few weeks ago will have noticed that Buford wasn't the only casualty back then. According to Buford, he went voluntarily, but I was pleased to see that TNF takes a firm line on shouting matches, 'pissing contests' as B would have said, of that kind.
Members fall by the wayside all the time, but I really miss Buford.
Ah, was wondering why the Indy Car thread had stayed so civil for the last few months.
(sorry to drag an old post up but I missed it)

It would be great to have an Interseries revival race, if there is no hope of the Orwell Supersports making an appearance, as well as the WSCM evening race.
