James Allen over at his blog said in one of his blog posts that the speed limit has been changed to 100 km/h. This is the first I've heard of this.

I thought it was part of what the FIA decided on the 17th March, but I'm not sure. I've definitely heard about this before, but only as a tiny detail in a bigger story. Nobody (the media) seems to have paid much attention to it.

30.12 A speed limit of 60km/h will be imposed in the pit lane during all free practice sessions, this will be raised to 100km/h for the remainder of the Event. However, this limit may be amended by the Permanent Bureau of the Formula One Commission following a recommendation from the FIA F1 safety delegate.

Checked the regs and they are not changed from last year.

Clatter, where did you find last years reg, as my copy says:-

30.12 A speed limit of 60km/h will be imposed in the pit lane during all free practice sessions, this will be raised to 80km/h for the remainder of the Event. However, this limit may be amended by the Permanent Bureau of the Formula One Commission following a recommendation from the FIA F1 safety delegate.

hmmm, odd, upon further investigation, it seems there was more than one issue of the regs, compare :-

Odd indeed, how can two differing versions of the regulations be circulated? By whom and for what reason?
Or did certain parties fiddle with the rules and distribute manipulated versions?

Both say 2008 Formula One Sporting Regulations on the front page.
But the numbering of paragraphs differs, the two paragraphs in dispute being once 30.12 and once 101.

Strange.

Just looked back at the various copies I have and one has the 80kph limit, the other 100kph. The higher limit looks to have been in an earlier version which was dated March 2007, and then set at 80kph in May 2008. So maybe they intended raising the limit and then changed their mind.

They should keep it all at 60km/h to discourage pit stops.

That's what Flav was wondering over the diffusers.
