So far as I know, de Cadenet still lives and works in London (Chelsea, I believe) in the antiques business. He is now into historic cars (he is an Alfa enthusiast) and still races them from time to time as well as dealing in them. He appears occasionally on TV. I guess that his giant killing efforts at Le Mans were his 15 minutes of fame.

His main notoriety these days is as father to former "wild child" Amanda de Cadenet, who is a would-be starlet in Hollywood these days with a failed marriage to some ex-popstar on her CV.

I don't know where he lives, but he does a lot of work for Speedvision. He hosts, "Legends of Motorsports" as well as Goodwood, and a number of other historical shows, including ones where he drives around in various versions of famous marques and gives you his impressions. Pretty neat to hear a 250 GTO in anger. He also covered Le Mans for Speedvision last year and had the best commentary I have ever heard anyone give during a live race. I wish they'd have him cover F1 as well.

Fast One is right on....he's on Speedvision all the time. He did a very interesting and humorous "blow by blow" commentary at the Barret Jackson Collector car auction televised on Speedvision last month also.

I think he also hosted a UK TV magazine series last year on aviation.

De Cadanet is not a bad TV presenter. He was the host of BBC's "Airshow" series last year. He was also the chairman of Channel 4's "Wheeltorque" motor racing night in 1997. In 1983 BBC did a one-off documentary about one of his Le Mans adventures titled "24 Hours at Le Mans" (I bet they spent ages thinking that one up).

Magnum

Yeah, John Taylor of Duran Duran, that's the feller. How much more of an ex-pop star could you be???

But I seem to have maligned Alain a little, as he is obviously much more active on TV than I gave him credit for. He doesn't grace my TV screen very often but at least he is working!

motor racing chores, like Speedvision!!!!
