Looking for some help in finding photos with the intention of buying of ff1600 from the early eighties from both the uk & Ireland.
Looking in particular for Irish drivers who competed in the uk, David Kennedy,Bernard Devaney,Tommy Byrne,Derek Daly & Paul Bishop etc. If someone could point me in the right direction or recommend any sites.
Thanks
Michael Mc

In the meantime, here's David Kennedy's Crosslé 30F in the Oulton Park paddock during the summer of '76.

To the right of the picture, partially obscured, is Fiona - David's future wife - who used to help prep the car. She'd be changing ratios etc while DK loitered in the paddock, drinking tea and trying to extract an extra few shillings from potential sponsors.

The art of poise: Marc Smith leads Jim Walsh through Lodge Corner (from 1979, I believe).

Not as I recall. He did drive an RF82 (very quickly) but it was owned or sponsored by a transport company...whose name escapes me.

Thanks a million for your responses & there are some breat shots there, keep em comin.
In relation to the Paul Bishop comments, I am particularly interested in this driver.
I know that after he campaigned his Crossle 45f in Mondello in 81 & after winning the televised Leinster trophy meeting & also winning the Irish formula ford festival he then went to the uk in 1982.
As far as I know he drove for the works Reynard team alonside Andrew Gilbert Scott & a swede called Fredrik Skoghak. I'm not sure if it was a full works drive probably not. Maybe someone can give me more info.
He was always there or there abouts on the pace but unfortunealely only won one race as far as I recall, not to sure where, either Mallory or Silverstone. The one win I don't think was a true reflection of his talents,Any ideas as to where I can get more info/photos on him ??
As for Tommy Bryne,I read his book recently & wow what a talent, so sad that he didn't get to where his talents deserved to be, he comes across as a very rough uncut diamond.
I remember him demolishing a gas lamp at the Phoenix park in 1980 I think it was. The early 80's where just mega.

From what I recall Scott was the more successful but was that due to talent or money ??

The were both quite well funded. AGS's money IIRC came from backing the Harvest Moon clothing run by Graham DeZille's father and I seem to remember that Freddie Skoghak's was family money. Of the 2 AGS was probably the best. Freddie as charming as he was off the track seemed to get the red mist when the flag dropped. A friend of mine at the time had been his mechanic.

Your friend who was mechanic to Skoghak, who did he actually work for, was it for the works Reynard team ?
And if you still have contact with him does he recall anything about the Irish driver Paul Bishop ??
I also remember Bishop returning home to Ireland for the Leinster Trophy meeting with the Reynard & some of his mechanics, he didn't finish the race due to a tangle with someone in Duckhams corner. I think I have some photos somewhere & will see if I can get them on the thread.
What happened to Skoghak, did he progress on to FF2000 or F3 ??

No, he worked for Richard Owen who ran Skoghak earlier in the year. I don't think he was involved with the Reynard effort.
I don't know what Skoghak did after that... went home I think!

Who was Richard Owen & what his involvement with Reynard ??? as far as I know Bishop drove for the works team. Is your friend still involved in the sport ??
Has anyone any photos of Skoghak or indeed any more information, his results etc.

However they are best left unpublished, as in Heat Five Paul tangled with Kristyan Ingram ( Van Diemen RF85) and was sent sumersaulting over the barriers at the top of Paddock Hill Bend.
The incident resulted in the tragic death of a track marshal.

Your right,it is the same driver & I remember that dreadful day,I was in the paddock hill grandstand that day.
The car he drove was a Crossle 32f,it was an old car in comparison to the front runners but even though it wasn't as modern he was still going very quickly that weekend & could have been a serious contender.
If I remember correctly he had qualified on the 1st or 2nd row for the heat but was found to be under weight & put to the back. I understand that prior to qualifying he had attempted to have the car weighed at the scrutiny bay but couldn't. It was not his intention to run under weight.
The photos you have are they prior to the incident ?

I do remember him charging his way back up through the field to a postition where he was extremely close to qualifying for the Quarter Final.
I think maybe the incident was due to the fact that he was catching cars that were considerably slower than his Crossle?
The photos I took actually coincided with early stages of the incident......

Phil I would very much like you to reconsider showing me your photos. I do have a series of photos that I bought off a photographer,I think it was Fred Scatley but they are of the aftermath of the accident.

IIRC Ted Walker holds the Scatley copyright; see TNF copyright rules.
