Just wondering if any of the fellow T.N.F users out there know how Win Percy is going these days? I havent seen or heard anything about him in a while now since just after the Operation went wrong.

Just wondering if any of the fellow T.N.F users out there know how Win Percy is going these days? I havent seen or heard anything about him in a while now since just after the Operation went wrong.
Win recovered from the operation and with the kind of determination that few other than Win could muster he has managed to walk on crutches and is much more mobile. He moved to Spain about two years ago but have not heard from him for a month or two but as far as I am aware he is fit and well.

As a young kid watching the ATCC I always associated Win Percy with the steam train from Thomas the Tank Engine.

Despite the trauma of the accident and the failed operation, Win has come through it all with flying colours. I was with Win most of last Saturday at a private event - a few pics below. He was in extremely good spirits, looked much fuller faced than the last time I saw him at the 2008 Revival and was really enjoying himself. He did say he now missed both the racing environment and all his friends so maybe we'll see more of him this year. 
He was at the FOS in 2008 (below) and also the Revival last year but in the background and I think this year might be different to our advantage.
He can walk well now with sticks rather than crutches and did, I believe, manage a km unaided at one point.
If anyone has greetings or questions for Win, I'll happily pass them on.
He was also at the FOS in 2008 driving Nigel Webb's recreation of Mike Hawthorn's Mk1 Jaguar, fitted with hand controls:

Great news and excellent to see him look so well. I worked at Bathurst in a pit crew in 1991 and had the pleasure or meeting Win. Just a really nice guy took the time to chat to a young apprentice from another team on what was a particulary diffuclt weekend for the Holden Racing Team which he was running at the time.
With any luck we will get to see him one day down here in Australia. I am sure a lot of fans would love too see him

I'm another Australian fan of Win's... still the same smile that we associate with his time here...
From the viewpoint of a young fan, who seldom got to the track in the day, Win was always a captivating figure in the day; never complaining on-camera about anything, always chuckling, and really relishing our Holy Grail, Mt Panorama. We took to him readily, and I'm glad to seem him doing well.

Win is a friend of mine from way back in the late 60s when we were in the Woolbridge Motor Club in Dorset, I have been out here for over six years, and I have obviously missed something somewhere, could you possibly send me a P Email to les.dalton@orange.fr and let me know what has happened to Win.
I remember him back in the early days, when he used his Lotus engined Ford Anglia and won everything he entered, sprints, autocross, whatever.
We were all in Andy Andersons house in Lulworth one night playing cards, and Win volunteered to take somebody home, and said he would be half an hour, he never came back, and the banter was oh well he must have found something else more important, what we did not know, was that he had rolled his car very badly near the Black Dog pub, and was not found until the next morning.
When you next speak to Win, ask him if he remembers the time that Les Dalton towed him and Mr Sumari off a stage on the 1973 Scottish international, Win was driving the Sumari built datsun 240Z with the boss Co-driving and their cluth blew up.
Win said to me later it was quite a frightening experience, because they only had about 6 feet of tow rope, and after I hooked him up we were off at full rally speed, I recall that after stopping, backing up, and hitching him on,I only dropped 15 seconds to the fastest Landrover on that stage, he did mention that my front wheels were lifting 2 foot up in the air on the corners.
Last time I spoke to Win, was at the launch of the Metro 6R4, when he was on the panel with Murrey Walker and Tony Pond in York.
Give him my best and tell him we have a superb motor race 20 minutes from my house, and is held in Angouleme in the Charente, its the 20th of September this year, and features all the classics Buggatis, Jaguar, Bentley, Porsche et all, and he should pop up to see it.

Many thanks for the info regarding Win.
what can you say,injured like this, after some horrific motor racing accidents, it really does not seem fair,does it.
But,I am sure with his tenacity, he can still be competative.

It was a very pleasant surprise to find Win at yesterday's 'Classics at the Castle' event at Sherborne Castle. He was there signing autographs and copies of his official biography 'Win 1', and dashing about the place at great speed with the aid of a couple of sticks. It was good to see him looking so well. I was able to grab a brief chat with him - what a lovely unassuming bloke he is.

When Win was racing at Bathurst I was barely past the "spotty youth" stage and obliged to not cheer for him as I was a "Ford Man" and he always drove for The Opposition. However, I was always struck by his manner in interviews and held him in high esteem as a result (his driving ability, of course, was beyond question - if only he'd been in a Ford!).
I'm therefore stoked to see he's out and about, and given that a mere decade ago was told he'd never walk again, it's great to see just how mobile he is and that he's still retained his enthusiasm for motor sportand.
Cheers to Win Percy and hope he makes it down this way again soon!
