Times a lot slower than in testing.
Ferrari nowhere seen in the speedtrap. You do know what that means.
They are really slow ?

Looking at the full stint times, the Ferrari's are anything but slow. Very comparable to Red Bull, and definately more consistent then the Brawn's.
Looks like Ferrari's update is indeed quite the step forward.

Ferrari definitely looks like a top 8, maybe top 6 car.
But then won't do an Alonso run on Q3 and on ultimate pace Brawn is still faster and the RBR drivers are just too good for one lap.
Maybe they will get a top-5 finish, but they are still away from fighting for a podium.

Yup, nearly six-tenths behind his team mate.
It was a good time because Nelsinho was less than six tenths behind Fernando. Also, good and important work from Nelsinho all along because he obviously was doing some dedicated preparation for race. That is, checking the gravel conditions and training how to get back when being there.

Buttons times all over the place compared to the others - whats that all about ??
Ross Brawn said this during the friday Press Conference:
"We have brought a new package here which seems to be working very well with Rubens but we have got a problem with it with Jenson (Button) and we have to understand what is going on."

anyways its still hard to say how qualifying will go ... a couple of teams do seem to have stepped up. Mclaren will likely struggle....I predict some tweaks in the status quo, nothing too massive

Hamiltons comments were very pessimistic, it sounds like hes given up. I wonder when he will ever win a race again?
Doesn't sound good from the interview. This years car is a dud for sure. Mclaren are even lucky to be where they are at the moment. If it was by the standards of one Kovasloowalainen, they would be ranking among the force indias of this world or worse

A podium for Ferrari is possible, but highly unlikely. Looking at Free Practice 1 and 2, and I am sure a lot of people will point out that the time is not an indication of things to come in Qualy and Race, I am still of the opinion that Brawn GP, RBR and Toyota are still faster than Ferrari. I was looking forward to McLaren bringing in their DDD for this race, but that was not the case. Renault seemed to be very fast in Free Practice 2 and they clocked in good times on heavy fuels.Ferrari could and I hope, get a handful of points this weekend. Podium possible?
My take so far based on FP1 and 2 is that Brawn, RBR, Toyota are still the teams to beat, followed by Renault, Williams, Ferrari,McLaren, BMW, Torro Rosso and Force India.

I tend to disagree. The longer stints on the soft tyre, which is meant to be the better race stint were comparable to the RedBull times.. Ferrari like Mclaren did the bulk of their running on the harder tyre, so their times are skewed somewhat.
A podium is on the hgh end of the expectation IMO.

i exspect to see both redbull in top 6 without any problems, this is a track made for them, and vettel on 1 or 2

On an empty tank and the preferred tyres!massa`s up 0.4 from 2nd placed barachello.....things definitely look on the up
As much as I want to see Kimi do well this year, I do not believe that Ferrari can sustain that pace in quali or the race. But they've definitely improved.

Ferrari have improved but not as much as some think. They're not going to be in the top 5 unless they run very light in Q3.

nobody has any idea about the fuel loads right now...its all speculation...its a popular that massa was lighter than the brawns but BY WHAT AMOUNT is important...On an empty tank and the preferred tyres!

i think kimi was heavier than his team mate...consistantly dropping 0.3,0.4 secs in S3 all session...but again that could be due to other issues as well(new chasis, weight distribution issues etc)..
ferrari seem to have improved greatly....dyer had come out and asked of fans not to expect a pole but come race day,i wouldnt be surprised if we see two ferraris in the top 6 at the end of qualifying

Vettel made his Q1 run on prime tyres. RBR could definitely go faster in Q2.

It's not so much the lack of the 'official', it's the 'Barcelona Grand Prix' part that irks me. We're in Spain. For the Spanish Grand Prix.Sorry. It was my first official qualifying thread. I forgot what the naming convention is and I worried that calling it 'official' would be hubris.

Oh I started the qualifying thread, not this one. I just called it "Barcelona Qualifying," which is not a misnomer. I didn't even notice the misnomer in this thread title.
