Hello,

today I get a Penske PC1 (1974) conversation kit in scale 1/20th, now the instruction manual is one page and so I will
ask this forum for detailed photos from the rear and front suspension.
Here some photos

PC1 as it was launched, I believe with the top rockers operating the coil/dampers.
In the post above the car is PC1/003 (1975) and has already been modified to pull rods.

I wouldn't dare. Until someone posts photos of the earlier model in more detail, yours are the gold standard.

I'd totally forgotten that Penske debuted the car in that livery. Let me know if I should delete the posted photos as to avoid confusion for John and any other interested parties. Try to be helpful and ......

Brian

Leave them be is fine for me, John is old enough to distinquish the differences, as he has already scribbled the top rocker in his diagram.
On top of that, I am not sure the car raced in it's black coat !

Check out the front rockers on this shot John !

Oi!

I miss your photos, B-Squared - where did they go? Can we get them back, please?

Actually Ferris' pretty PC1 had a sort of pullrod/rocker hybrid suspension in that the rocker pulled a bellcrank via. a short pull-rod. A similar system was used first on Bellamy's McLaren M19, and for a while on Cuppock's M23. It gave more installation options than a traditional rocker system, and made it easier to tweak the rate curve, but it was, of course, more complex. A true pullrod system has the advantage of less to no bending in the system - a rocker knows no other way...

Hi all,

thanks for the excellent photos, now I have only one question:

has the 1974 car the same cooler configuration like the 1975 car?

You haven't seen John's website showing all the models he and his mates have built?

John - this is the best I could come up with in the quick. It may have changed from this shake down photo to the first race appearances, but it's definitely different that those I posted of the car in its 1975 configuration. Hope this of some help to you.

Brian

Does anyone know who was driving the car during this test ? I would imagine it was Mark Donohue who often used a helmet that matched his cars sponsors, but IIRC he was retired, if only temporarily, at the time.
