In a Preview to the Brazilian GP by Ewan Tytler on the Atlas F1 Page is mentioned, that the GP this year will be the 28th. Counting back, the first ever Brazilian GP has been in 1973 on the Interlagos track. This is right, if we take only the WC-GPs. But the Brazilian GP - or at least the Interlagos track - has also a pre-WC-, and even a pre-war-history !
There was a GP Sao Paulo in 1936, won by Carlo Pintacuda in a Alfa Romeo (Scuderia Ferrari) from two other Alfas. In fact no 'Brazilian GP', but a GP in Brazil without doubt. I don't know, how many Brazilian or Sao Paolo pre-war GPs followed. But the track of Interlagos was already built during the years 1938 - 1940. Possible, there were races in 1940 and 1941.
The first post-war GP there was in 1950 at Interlagos, clear it was a non-Championship GP. I don't know any results, even not the winner. Maybe it was a sportscar-race ? And what about the following years until 1972 ?
I think, there will be some people, knowing more, although I'm sorry, there is no hope, that now will happen the same as happened to my topic about 'Australian GP in former days'. I don't expect, we have a Brazilian Ray Bell here. But surprises are everywhere ...

Sure there must be, Austria, but maybe he hasn't heard of Atlas yet.
But it does appear you know more than Monkhouse, for he lists no 1950 race at Interlagos. He has a Sao Paulo GP for 1936, 1948 and 1949 at Sao Paulo, then 1952 and 1953 at Interlagos, both for Sports Cars, the first being won by Fangio in a Ferrari, the second by de Graffenried in a Maserati.
The Rio de Janiero GP listing is for the Gavea circuit in 1934 and annually to 1938, then 1949, 1952 and 1953.
May it be that the political situation prevailing in 1950-51 made racing impossible?
For the record, the only other Brazilian race listed is two runnings of a Boa Vista GP at Boa Vista, 1952 and 1957, both won by Fangio (Ferrari and Maserati), and it's interesting that the Auto Union team went to the 1937 Sao Paulo race.
Sure hope you get more than that...
