Ugh, you are all noobs!
Do the following things:
- Download and install the patch v9.6
- Download and install decrypted .exe - should be v1.02 or something (should just be a .zip, extract files and copy and paste to the root GP4 folder so it replaces the original
- Download gpXpatch - on the original settings screen, turn the CPU to 0
- Run the game to check if it works - if not, reinstall GP4 (unlikely but possible).
- Check the cars - if still white, go to the main menu, options, graphics settings, and bump everything up to the max (except frame rate - lock this at 20). If this works, but makes the game slow, try a lower resolution on this screen (but only after checking).
- Check the game
To MOD tracks:
- There are two files where info is stored
- Firstly, there are a list of .wads on the root folder (Infogrammes - Grand Prix 4 or whatever) which you need to replace. This is the graphics files. Once you have downloaded a .wad file for a track, you can drag and drop and replace the original file (BACKUP FIRST!!!!!!!!!!)
- Secondly, there is a list of files which go something like Track01.DAT. I think this is in the file called circuits or something. Anyway click on a few files and you will find it. These are the physics files. To replace them - same thing, drag and drop and replace the files. Remember to drag and drop with CTRL held down so that you copy the file instead of move it, and also BACKUPSSSSSS!
Hope this helps. With cars, you get .wad files I think on the GP4 root folder. Replace these - can't remember if there are any other files but I don't think so. Look at www.grandprixgames.org or gp4world (google that one) and there are loads of FAQs already around.
