Here's a Honda RC148 firing up at Goodwood. Check out the tach - reads to 22,000 and the bike is reved to 20,000+. The sound of this 125cc 5 cylinder is incredible.

Great find Paul
Lots going on in that paddock. All the riders and their families mucking in together just like a club meeting - only they are the top GP riders of the day!
Many were kipping in the back of their good old Thames vans no doubt too! The camaraderie really comes accross - all so different to the corporate scene of today.

True, it appears to be compulsary to hate every other rider these days, one of the reasons Casey Stoner gave for quitting.

In my opinion, this film captures the essence of racing in the seventies like no other - enjoy!
And another (stick with it - there are a few surprises !) -

Yes very interesting indeed. I had it in my mind that the world Series happened in 1980.
Anyway, since Barry Sheene is interviewed here, I came across this :

AMA Super Bike Race Laguna Seca 1980?
Some great racing, sounds (perhaps dubbed) and interviews with Fast Freddie, Eddie Lawson, Wes Cooley, Dave Aldana and others. From the ages and bikes I think it's 1980.
Eddie says he hopes to win the 500cc title some day. wonder how that worked out for him
This link seems to confirm 1980

Not YouTube, but in case you two-wheel chaps haven't seen it in the main forum, as part of their centenary celebrations, the BBC have put a large number of previously unavailable old television reports online at BBC Rewind, most of which seem to come from their regional news programmes so won't have been broadcast outside those areas at all and in any case probably haven't been repeated since.
There's quite a bit of stuff from BBC Northern Ireland and I saw several Ulster GP and other Irish road racing related segments. Search is a bit hit and miss, but if you put in obvious keywords like Dunlop or Surtees you'll get plenty of hits.
Something a bit different to start you off though. Motocross at Brands Hatch, 1949:

Enjoy - and do share what you find!

Not You Tube but BBC iPlayer.
Stephen Davison presents The Motorcycle Mavericks.
Visits to Clady, Dundrod, Armoy & Saintfield (Temple) plus interviews with Richard Creith, Jim Dunlop and Jonathan Ray.
Very enjoyable hour or so.
