I am thinking about visiting this event this years. Have you got any experience from the past years ? I would like to know the following:
- Can you recomened good parking place ?
- Can I go into the paddock and to the tribune (the place where people can watch the race) with a normal ticket ?
- Only the program specific race cars (drm cars, minis, etc) are displayed or there are other race car or oldtimer cars ?
- I heard there is a dedicated park place for the german car clubs (mercedes, bmw, etc) ? Where is it ?
- Which is the best place to watch the race ?
- Any cheap rest place / hotel recomendation ?
- Are there any bus or other transport to go to specific parts of the racetrack ?
- Any bus transport from biger towns (munich, etc) ?
- Which is the best day to visit ? Or should I stay there for 3 days ?
Any other guide, experience about the Ogp are welcome.
Thank you.

I went there two years ago. Parking is up front across the road. Ticket will give you free entrance to the paddock/grandstands.Hello,

Nice event, many old GP cars, Le Mans racers, etcetera. The day depends on what you want: see the race or take pictures in a relaxed paddock area.
Dont know about buses. Must be great hotels in the area.

Hello,
I am thinking about visiting this event this years. Have you got any experience from the past years ? I would like to know the following:
Can you recomened good parking place ?
I was there last year and really enjoyed it.
As AdR said, parking is across the road from the main straight, and usually the spaces closest to the main entrance fill up first. There are marshals around telling you where you can leave the car.
Can I go into the paddock and to the tribune (the place where people can watch the race) with a normal ticket ?
again, as AdR said, you can move around freely in the paddock and between all open grandstands.
- Only the program specific race cars (drm cars, minis, etc) are displayed or there are other race car or oldtimer cars ?
The paddock was rather full last year with the cars actually racing. Nevertheless, there were large areas filled with Porsches, Ferraris and Lambos of all ages, and a small tent with cars offered on auction (there was, however, an admission fee for the latter to keep the serious buyers among themselves).
- I heard there is a dedicated park place for the german car clubs (mercedes, bmw, etc) ? Where is it ?
I saw dedicated parking for various classic cars in cordoned-off areas of the main parking areas. You should contact the relevant clubs beforehand!
- Which is the best place to watch the race ?
I recommend to move around. The grandstand above turn 1 gives a good view of a large part of the circuit, and there is always some outbreaking and to be watched there. There is a grandstand at the back of the circuit before the chicane where you can see the cars at full chat, and one at the beginning of the main straight - not to be recommended when the CanAm cars are on as it's simply too loud. Wherever you are, don't forget sun lotion and warm, weatherproof clothing, as well as an isolating cushion - you are likely to get sunburn and freeze to death at the same time!
- Any cheap rest place / hotel recomendation ?
- Are there any bus or other transport to go to specific parts of the racetrack ?
- Any bus transport from biger towns (munich, etc) ?
sorry, no idea (my wife arranged the trip as a birthday present, and she is away at the moment)
- Which is the best day to visit ? Or should I stay there for 3 days ?
Any other guide, experience about the Ogp are welcome.
Thank you.
There is a discount if you go all three days, which is what I did. One day wouldn't be sufficient to see all there is to see. I really enjoyed it, and even my wife who isn't very much into motor racing liked it very much (except the sunburn bit) and talks about going to an event in Britain next.

Whilst not five stars, it suited us for the night and was reasonably priced - but not cheap - and that was not during a race weekend.
Enjoy your trip!
