Reading this old post about driver wages, must be changed by now, read somewhere else
that both Heidfeld and Kubica had an 8 million ( dollar ? ) salary, does anyone have a
reliable updated list/source for the driver salaries of 2009

Those a for 2008 season. He must be earning more now, because it would be a joke if he earns less than Bourdais,Heikki and Rosberg.

What a difference half a season makes!

There's surely going to be a rearrangement of contracts for some people when their present one expires.

Kimi is way over the top - not the wunderkind many thought he was. On today's scale, deduct 25%.

The rest of the top 5 look about right for now.

The only other drivers who are poor value are Piquet, deduct 50%, and Bourdais ditto.

Underpaid is Vettel obviously, needs to start looking for a contract worth just below the top 5 - he is future WDC.

Underpaid who stand out include Kubica who should leapfrog the overpaid Heidfield, and Rosberg who will need to leave Williams to break above the 5Mill mark.

I know you were looking for insider contract information but I couldn't resist, 2 cents.....

I believe his salary was modified when he signed on for another season.

Button and Rubens were being paid well all these yars when they were driving that rubbish Honda.

Vettel will be earning far more soon.

If my math is right, that works out at an average of 6.25 million each a year at about 120 grand a week. Which in todays terms is about the same as a 20 man squad of top footballers. And considering we are dealing with the cost spread out over 10 quite rich companys in a sport with about an annual turnover of about a billion dollars I don't think it's such a bad deal. Tag on to that the promo stuff they have to do, the merchandise they sell and the relative danger of the job and it's quite a fair deal IMO.

What stands out is the day of paid drivers not being around.

Rewind maybe 10 years and there would be at least a couple of "driver x .. -$xxxxxxx (minus as in they were paying the team)

I've heard $4m being bandied about for Rubens and Jenson. I don't know how true it is. I know that Jenson took a massive (more than 50%) pay cut for this season.

Very difficult because it was a series of complicated business things not just a direct salary but I heard it cost Ferrari around $60 million to have MS for all those deals. That doesn't mean that MS took home $60M in his pocket.

Bild: BMW are unsatisfied with Heidfeld and he is likely to be fired at the end of this season. AMuS reported in Sept '08, Nick and Robert are now on identical 8m Euro salary ( = 10,5 million dollar ).

Guys remember that these drivers salaries usually go into a company that is the driver - things like offices, PR department, manager of course, PA etc..... have to all be accounted and paid for.

AMuS is very reliable. Rampf let it slip during an interview that both drivers are at the same 10.5mil salary.

The Bild rumor was planted by Rosberg's manager.

Wish I could get 4million after a massive pay cut.

How tight is Vettel's contract currently? I wonder if Ferrari may try and get him.
