A recently discovered photo shows the AJS team on the IOM circa 1953, rider 46 is Bill Dorman and No 57 is Rod Coleman, but who is sat astride No 88 ? Could it be Robin Sherry or Derek Farrant ?
Thanks in advance.

Ian, try previewing the post before submitting, this should make it 'clickable'. Yes, welcome from me too.

Just some resurrection, but I can't give the answer I'm afraid
I think Sherry. There's a picture of him elsewhere on here and the helmet design looks similar. These three all finished in the Senior, whereas Farrant didn't, so factory team prize?

In suit and trilby Jock West and next to him in beret might be Francis Beart.

Hello Larryd,
Thanks for your confirmation of Robin Sherry.
I showed your comment ref Francis Beart to a friend more knowledgeable than I and his reply was thus, "the guy in the berry is not Francis Beart. Francis was always seen in his trilby, I saw him many times and I am sure he slept in it."
Regards, Ian

Good stuff, Russell. Actually, that mag of Gordon Cadzow's was a ripper, perhaps not just for editorial content, but also for the unearthing of long-hidden pics. For those who may not know, Francis Beart's book, "A Single Purpose" is a ripping read, and opens many avenues of interest into the Brooklands years, and the philosophies and attitudes of the McCandless brothers. If you can dig one up, it's well worth a read...

I'd say the helmet looks correct for Sherry compared to my 1953 350cc Junior TT pic of him;
