A few questions for anyone that can help:

1. What was the date of thay 1986 Race of Champions at Brands Hatch took place?

2. Does anyone have the roster?

3. (A stupid question perhaps...) Was it a F1600 or FF2000 event?

Interesting; I didn't realise that the RoC continued in a non-F1 vein after the 1983 event.

I guess that must mean it became pretty low-profile... :well:

During my research into Paul Tracy's early career, I had an opportunity to converse with someone from Van Diemen. This was his reply to me:

Paul drove a Formula Ford in the Race of Champions at Brands Hatch in 1986 representing the USA. He showed some talent but ( fell off ) several times. the race was won by Niclas Schoestrom from Sweden. His driving improved and he raced in our 2 Litre car.

So, yeah... apparently there was such a race!

Oh, please don't get me wrong!

I wasn't disputing that the event(s) took place, it was rather more that it was that I was unaware of them...

Wasn't thinking that at all!

I only learned of this event a couple days ago and can't find mention of it on the net anywhere!

There's nothing wrong with posting a query on more than one forum, provided of course that he/she isn't seeking a quiz answer!

Yeah, posted over on TenThenths as well. No quiz, no test... just curious.

Again, any help anyone could provide would be most appreciated.

I don't remember this one either and I was a regular at Brands up to around 1992.Only use of the title I recall since 1983 was those held in stadiums like Paris & Wembley.Might have been part of FF festival-something like 'race of nations' if Tracey was 'representing' Canada?

Wasn't the 1986 version a John Webb idea for a FF1600 race at Brands with competitors from around the globe representing their countries in a one off race.

I was there that day but apart from being the first occasion that I saw Paul Tracy (who might have needed special dispensation to race as he was 16 at the time) racing cannot remember too much else other than it was held on the grand prix circuit and may have been supporting Thundersports or similar.

Ah yes, remember it now, it was a support race for the Shell Oils 1000km sportscar race, held a week after the British GP at Brands.
There was also an FF support race at the GP, a round of the TT championship.
The FF Race of Champions started a year earlier, at the 1985 GP at Silverstone, all in identical Van Diemens.

Alpine — Thank you so much!

You referred to the Autosport edition. Would you have to know whether there is a picture from the event in it?
