http://twitter.com/autosportlive

Looks like a good use of the "I'm sitting in the toilet having a crap" website.

My question is, as it's showing http://live.autosport.com/ as its home page, will the on-site folks from Autosport no longer provide info for //live.?
And do I have to join the one site I have been steering clear from since its inception?

Looks to me like what you see on the Twitter page is being drawn from the autosport.com/live feed, so if you don't want to sign up to Twitter, then don't. Continue to read it directly from the pages of Autosport instead. It's there for convenience I'd imagine.

Ah...cheers for that dank.
Although I have a page there I have never bothered to pick my nose in public so it remains dormant.

No problem, glad you brought it to greater attention as I didn't know this existed on there.

It's easier for me to get Twitter updates via my semi-ancient phone rather than constantly refreshing Autosport webpage(s), so this will come in handy to follow what's going on in practice tomorrow whilst I should be working.

Just to confirm, there will be no change to the Live service - we have simply added a Twitter feed as another way for people to view the updates.

Away from the on-track action, Jonathan Noble's tweets are a great way to keep up with the events in the paddock.

While your live twitter idea seems a good one, the character limit appears to be cutting off a lot of updates and some simply don't make much sense due to this.

I had an idea that someone there may want to consider and code. How about taking each update from the Live team and running it through a script that replaces certain words with short hand versions that are more twitter friendly.

For example "Nico Rosberg" = "ROS", "Mark Webber" = "WEB", McLaren = "McL", Fastest Lap = "FL". That way more of your updates stand a better chance of fitting into the limit.

I'm not suggesting replacing the normal live updates in this way, just the twitter version of each update. The more characters you cut out, the more chance the twitter update will make more sense to the end user. :)

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. We'll certainly be looking at how to optimise the feed for twitter, this is very much a beta service at the moment.
