I seem to remember something in Autosport about a Mclaren test session with Stefan Johansson in what must have been 1987. They were testing on the road course but there was some suggestion that Johansson may have taken the Mclaren up on the banked oval for at least one lap.

I wondered if it was just a myth or whether it really happened? I can't imagine Ron Dennis would say 'Take it for run on the oval lads...'
