Opposite lock is when the driver "steers into the slide". It's done to counteract oversteer (or 'push').
For example, if the rear begins to come around in a left hand turn, the driver will steer right.
For visual proof, look at any loose-surface round of the WRC, where you'll see a virtuoso performance of opposite lock by all the top runners. Except Francois Delecour!

Say you take a right turn, but you turn too much, you would quickly turn left until the wheel locks to correct your slide.[p][Edited by mhferrari on 11-04-2000]

I think Pedro can show us some good "opposite-lock"

Timm, 'push' is the American term for under-steer not over-steer!
I believe the Americans refer to an oversteery car as 'loose'
Yes I know I'm a pedent!
