Thoughts and Prayers to Mr. Evans Family.

Steve was the longtime voice of NHRA, IHRA and World of Outlaw sprints. His commentating will be missed by all his fans.

What happened? Was he sick? I didn't hear a thing about him, and I thought he was just on TV recently?

RIP Steve Evans.

Cause of death listed as natural, but he was only 58.

He was found dead in his Las Vegas hotel room. He died of a hart attack. RIP Steve Evans.

You can be shure he is calling the races from that big drag strip in the sky!

RIP. I remember him from the 1980s on TNN, during a brief period when I followed drag racing.

a great announcer with an excellent sense of humor. To me he will always be the voice of drag racing. He had the respect of fans, and more importantly the racers, he always made things intersting.

I don't think he can be replaced.

from NHRA.com

Services for famed NHRA announcer and television personality Steve Evans, who died Nov. 1, will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Racer's for Christ tent in the Corporate Hospitality Village at Pomona Raceway. The services are open to anyone attending Thursday qualifying.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the memorial fund that has been established to benefit Evans' widow, Sandy.

I don't follow drag racing, but from what I have heard, he was a good commentator.
