I have noticed the New Zealand Historic Association has a new class called Superhistoric. I believe this caters for many of the open wheel race cars there may be no category for as yet.
From what I understand the class is open to F1, F5000, F Atlantic, F2, F Holden, F3000 and other similar classes.
Would anyone know if Australia may be looking to do the same thing.

Call for cars for the ‘Super Historic’ Class
Interest in the ‘Super Historic’ single seater class for the Festival continues to build. This is a new class in New Zealand that
has been running for only one season. Car numbers of NZ Super Historics are still growing although this class will be
strongly supported by a variety of different cars from Australia and UK. Cars typical of the Super Historic class include the
1970/80s Formula Pacific/Atlantic ‘wings and slicks’ cars of the era including the Modus, Cheetah, Chevron, Ralt RT 1, RT4
and Swift DB4. NZ legend driver Kenny Smith will drive a Swift DB4 that was the winning car in the 1990 NZIGP. Andrew
Higgins will drive the ex Graeme Lawrence/Dean Hall Swift DB4 that won the 1989 NZIGP. Other cars in the class include
Biranna, Chevron, March, Brabham, Lotus and Elfin Formula Two and Formula Three cars. A limited number of Invited
Formula Holden/Brabham cars will also be included in the grid. Owners of any ‘Super Historics’ who would like to be added
to the grid should contact Festival Chairman, Jim Barclay jimbarclay@xtra.co.nz

You are quite right Ray, the new class may however give some f holden drivers with early cars a chance to race at historic meetings instead of club meets.
Too many of these cars are tucked away in sheds, and it just might be the incentive needed for these guys to race then again.

Your right Ray we dont need any more classes, and one wonders what class f holden will eventually combine with, if any.
Maybe they can run with F5000 and F Atlantic. I know this wont please some people, but what is the alternative, it was hard to get a decent field of these cars for many years.

I don't think the application of classes in NZ, which has a relatively small population of obsolete race cars, should be taken as being viable for countries with more cars

Agreed, I think Super Historics is basically a class for "wings and slicks" cars, which could include F.Atlantic, F3, F.Holden, sports cars and F5000 when they are not having their own race series.

N.Z. has basically two historic classes with all earlier open wheel and sports cars running together in one "historic" class, and all wings and slicks cars running in a "super historic" class.

Russel Sewell needs someone to get a car sorted for him. (lot of work there) Car didnt do much running on friday saturday or sunday this weekend!
