Hello,

does any of you have a photo of the "Platé Special" used by Clemente Biondetti at the 1949 Swiss Grand Prix?
AFAIK it was one 1926-27 Grand Prix Talbot-Darracq heavily modified.

Was it used in any other races?

Thank you.

Best regards,
Luis

Yes, by Nello Pagani in the 1949 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. He retired on lap 3
after having qualified 22nd from 24 cars.
I don't know much about the car except that it was indeed a modified Talbot-Darracq.

Cheers,

Jop

I think I am correct in saying this is the car that was restored by Sean Danaher in the early 1980s for David Cohen to its 1931 form i.e with Plate chassis.

In its post war form it was re-chassised again

From Automobil Revue. Not a good scan, but it gives an impression.

Speaking of Plate, has anyone ever seen a photo of either of the two Plate/Alfas that were entered in the 1938 Mille Miglia??

The car in question was also entered for Fagioli at Reims for that year's GP de France, but it failed to arrive.

An excellent link. I can offer the C&SC article scanned if you wish. PM me with your e mail adddress. I have some photographs in the files from Coys at Silverstone post restoration.
